June 1, 200521 yr when is spooney going to come off the injured list, it seems that this guy had surgery 3 years ago and he still not back? also when is valdez going to come back, i think he could help the bullpen? also when does Alfonseca return? and can anyone say go get danny graves 7th graves 8th mota 9th jones and sit jp for a couple of games..........when gonzo is hitting about 25 points higher there is something wrong, put encarnacion at CF, conine at RF and try dillon or easley at 3B for a while
June 1, 200521 yr Mecir, Bump, Perisho and Reidling are more than capable of getting the ball to Mota and Jones. Bullpens will blow some games. They happen. They happen to all relievers. Benitez had his off nights. Rivera-Wetteland had bad nights. Don't go creating more problems for yourself just to correct small temporary problems.
June 1, 200521 yr Danny Graves is Nate Bump with a worse fastball and control problems. No thanks We don't need bullpen help. We need Pierre and Lowell to start hitting.
June 1, 200521 yr It doesn't look like Spooney is coming back anytime soon. Alfonseca is still a month (maybe more) away, I think. Valdez is the closest of any of them to coming off the DL.
June 1, 200521 yr This is from May 21 on Alfonseca: Antonio Alfonseca (elbow) is hoping to begin resuming baseball activities next week and then a rehab assignment in June. The goal is to be back in the bullpen by the All-Star break, but that may be a little optimistic, as the recovery time for a stress fracture in his elbow could be longer. The Marlins are planning on an MRI on Monday and should know more details after that. Link This is from the 24th on Valdez: Ismael Valdez (leg)was cleared for conditioning and weight training after an X-ray on Monday. This is good news after the last report we got was that the injury wasn't calcifying. As of now, the break is healing normally and he is expected to resume throwing in the few days. Link And from the 28th on Spooneybarger: Tim Spooneybarger has been removed from his rehab assignment. Apparently, his velocity is down and the Marlins want him to work on his mechanics on the side. He had Tommy John surgery in September of 2003. Link That's about it as far as new news goes. I'd like to get Graves, especially if it means that he's kept away from New York and Atlanta. He may never be the "baby faced assassin" again, but he'd benefit us more by keeping him away from the teams he'd really be of help to than by his direct impact to our bullpen.
