Why worry about all this trade talk going on when we don't need to? My man Gerald Williams here in Albq. just went 4-4 with 8 RBI, thats right, I said 8 RBI. Yeah, in one game. A little 3-run shot in the second and a Dennys sized Grand Slam in the eighth inning as the topes won 11-6.

Sorry but this was just too good (and funny) to pass up, carry on with the trade talk.

Oh, btw, Topes have a 3 game lead in their division.

Why not? We had confidence in G. Williams at the end of Spring Training. He's hitting 319 with the 'Topes (8 HR's). And from what I saw in Jupiter last Spring, he still has good wheels. He's a veteran, can play any OF position, has play-off experience... and he costs us nothing! Looks like a valuable bench player that we could use. Instead of an unnecessary trade.

we should have kept Al Martin instead of G.W. after the final outfield cut of the Spring...

Bad move, but Al could've have been a cheap solution for the team in LF if thats what Beinfest wanted.

I still like cabs there though

I agree we should have kept Martin. He was great last Spring. The contract nonsense was absurd. Pinella grabbed him in a heart beat. We don't need a new starting outfielder. We need a bench OF who can make things happen. And that's not Hollandsworth. A bench OF who can give Cabs, Juan and Juan an occasional break. G. Williams can do that.

Uh Oh, looks like its comparison time!!!

Al Martin (TB Devil Rays, not quite AAA)

GP - 69

Avg. - .263

Hits - 45

2B - 9

HR - 2

RBI - 15

Gerald Williams (AAA)

GP - 58

Avg. - .319

Hits - 66

2B - 16

HR - 8

RBI - 32

I think we did okay at spring cuts. I think we may see Mr. Williams down the stretch. Whats the point of keeping him in Albq when he's wrecking the ball? Its not like we're waiting for him to develop. He'll be a pinch hitter when we need him too and probably even platoon in the outfield a little (if we don't pull off a biggie trade). Having fun down there in Tampa Al?

AAA to the Show is the biggest jump....like T-Hutt always says in AAA-AA u maybe see a good pitcher once twice a week in the show you see a good pitcher every day.

Al Martins also played in more games in the Majors than Williams has in AAA so of course he's going to drop his average unless your Pujols that can get 2-3 hits every game.

and Al Martin is also a great clutch hitter i remember after i was bitchin about how TB picked him up...in his first couple weeks with the rays he got about 4 clutch hits in about 6 games including a game winning double.

But I'd still take Cab's over Williams or Martin

Al Martin sucks.

so does Gerald Williams.

Im glad both arent on the big club

wurd up to that.

I just did the comparison mainly to show GW was worth keeping around. Al would have been cool too but then he would be on our roster with those numbers. He has had some good clutch hits but c'mon.....

Gerald also has more speed and better defense...
