June 2, 200521 yr OK, so the Marlins lost a 4 game series against the Mets...it happens...so they get to play a 4 game series against a sub .500 team in the Pirates...and they drop that one too? Don't tell me abourt curses, I don't believe in that sh*t...The better team should beat the weaker team over the course of a long series in theory... Inexcusable... that's pretty much sums up how I feel concerning the team's play....and I mostly center that on the offense...lack of situational hitting- hitting the ball to the right instead of pulling it to move runners over ( See Pudge 2003 post-season), lack of clutch hitting this year...too many undependable guys in the line-up every day... Good outings from the starting pitcher wasted too many times this year because the offense can barely get 1 run on the board...Right now, the Braves are up 5-4 in the 9th..The Marlins need to do something now before Atlanta hits the thrusters and takes off with the division again...(As I type, the Braves have won it...Welcome to 2nd Place) Teal Shadow is right IMO...This team will not do much after September if the team stays put...Even if this team gets in somehow, there are some teams in the NL West, the Cardinals in the Central, and then you have the White Sox and Orioles...The current way the Marlins have been built won't beat some of these teams...If the Marlins are to win anything, they need to be designed to compete against the teams that are dominating right now...Dontrelle and Josh have accounted for most of the team's wins...that won't last if the offense goes down the tubes...I like JP and Mikey...they were a big part of the 2003 season, but I don't see them turning it around...JP has lost some speed, his clutch hitting isn't there - it seemed like he would find a way to slap one down the line but now he K's or grounds out to the middle infield...Mikey looks like he is playing hurt and won't admit it - something IS wrong with him...Encarnacion is inconsistent - good pitchers usually find a way to get him out... At this point, I welcome trades, even if that means losing a JP, ENC, or a Mikey...I want the best damn team out there on the field, I don't care who wears the Marlins uniform as long as they make the team a much improved one...I'd welcome firing Bill Robinson...Basically, I'd welcome anything that lights a fire under this team's ass because for the most part, this team is underachieving and has been damn lucky to stay up as high as it has in the standings...The NL East is tight, The Marlins need to improve to win the East and stand themselves apart... This team needs a quality starter and also an impact hitter to complement Cabs and Carlos...This team cannot play the same level of small ball it once did because a lot of the speed is gone...JP seems to have trouble stealing, and Luis has his leg/hip problems...So the question seems to be: try to acquire some speed, look for good contact hitters, or bulk up with some power hitters...The FO will have to figure out what kind of a team it wants to put together... The 2003 Marlins was a good team but the game has changed in 2 years...This team needs to make some changes to upgrade and keep up with the other teams that have improved themselves... ok, off of my soapbox...please keep the disagreement comments positive... thanks...
June 2, 200521 yr I agree with you. I think that due to the high competition in the NL East, we are definitely going to see some big trades coming soon in order to gain a strong advantage in the division. I could definitely see JP going pretty soon. I would not be surprised at all. Something must be done that will set us apart from everyone else. We need to pick up a great pitcher and a good hitter.
June 2, 200521 yr This team needs to start GIVING A f*** That's their problem Look, we haven't won in Pitt since 2002, so we're just gonna be complacent about it and lose again tomorrow. You can't go into a game not caring, you can't refuse to run to balls, you can't walk to first base, and you can't half ass s***. If you don't give a f***, you will lose, end of discussion. Bash him as you might but Juan Pierre is the only player on this team that looks like he gives a f*** at all about winning a game.
June 2, 200521 yr I'm just saying, nobody else cares. I'd play Juanpy everyday with a .100 average if he's going to run to first everytime and run to every ball in the field.

June 2, 200521 yr I don't question his heart, but I think JP's skills have been declining 792576[/snapback] Didn't he lead the NL in hits last year? Yeah, I think there is more evidence that he is in a slump than his actually skills being in decline.
