So I went to the Hammerheads game today, I wanted to go to yesterday's game too, to see Vargas pitch, but my mom had to borrow my car. :banghead

Anyway, Mildren pitched a good game, he doesn't have overpowering stuff but he stays in the strike zone and seemed to be throwing strikes with all his pitches. He did give up a couple hard hits, one that just went foul that would've been out. All in all though an impressive outing 1 Earned run in 6 innings of work. Brian Hoff came in I think it was the 8th and he had good stuff he was bringing the heat, gave up a couple of soft hits, but really liked his stuff. Zachary Lerch went 2 innings and got the win. He doesn't throw very hard but really did a great job of keeping the hitters off-balanced. Threw strikes with his breaking pitch and change.

As for the hitters, not too impressive except for Ryan Bear. I love his approach at the plate, and maybe finding his power stroke again as he hit the game winning homer in the 11th to win the ball game, it didn't make it over by much but it was to the deep part of the park in left center field. Abercrombie did not impress me with his approach at the plate though he's definitely a free swinger, you can tell he has a powerful swing though. He also almost made a tremendous play in center going all out and diving for a ball, he had it in his glove but it popped loose when he hit the ground.

The Manatees starting pitcher Ryan Anderson only pitched 2.2 innings but he was dominant. He was bringing the heat with an incredible slider. (Ask Abercrombie, we were sitting right above the Hammerheads dugout and after he K'd on Anderson's nasty slider we could hear Reggie say that s*** is nasty. :lol )

All in all I had fun. The manatees manager put on a great show after he got tossed. :lol I saw Spooney there, which surprised me I didn't expect him to be there, because of his setback. (he kept throwing peanuts at my little brother. :lol ) My brother also got one of the hammerheads players (I think it was Carlos Martinez, not sure though.) to give him Todd Brock's broken bat from earlier in the game. It turns out the bat was one of Paul Loduca's from last year, it had Paul's name on it and everything, and #14 so I knew it must've been made for him last year.

Reggie would K ALOT if he played in the pros. lol

I really think that Ryan Bear could be a good 4th or 5th OF someday. He is always around .300 and he did hit 17 homers last year. I hope he finds his power again also.

I like Bear. He has good discipline at the plate and speed on the bases, but he needs to start flashing that power again if he wishes to move up the ladder quickly.

I've seen loads of Hammerhead games this year and have yet to see Bear play the outfield. He's been playing 1B or DH. Has he played there before???
