Posted June 13, 200519 yr Carl Everett a fish again? it appears the Marlins might have some interest in the Everett. It appears once Frank Thomas comes off the DL, Everett will be on the block. Should be something to watch for :mischief The Giants appear ready to listen to offers for Schmidt. A couple of NL east team are very interested in the Phillies and National. Should the Marlins get involved? any offer for Schmidt would have to included Leiter b/c of the money.
June 13, 200519 yr I don't think the Giants would be crazy enough to take on Leiter and that salary and I wouldn't care much for Everett down here again...he is just more trouble that potential at this point in his career
June 13, 200519 yr Schmidt would be awesome, but it would cost the farm Plus hasn't he had on/off injuries for about a year now
June 13, 200519 yr Schmidt's too pricey for us I'd say. We'd have to give up Hermida and Olsen along with a couple other of our best prospects for them to take on Leiter's contract and give us Schmidt.
June 13, 200519 yr Author Here's another trade Edgardo Alfonzo back to the Mets. I'll tell you what our division rivals are really being aggressive out there with trade. Like I said one big trade will win this division. Come on Admin I read the Scott Olsen trade bait talk, it appears his immaturity has finally upset some in the organization. I'll tell what HE HAS THE STUFF to be the best arm in thye system, but other have pass him by this year in the organization eyes. Which says alot about him wanting to be a ML pitcher
June 13, 200519 yr Author Don't blow off the Carl Everett(4 mil) thing. I think the WS want Juan Encaranion(4.4 mil), so they can move him to CF. It would make sense Carl is a left-handed stick remember we did have a bad apple like Sheff on the 97' team BA HR RBI 270/ 8 / 40 Juan numbers BA HR RBI 278/ 8 / 37 do it :thumbup
June 13, 200519 yr I don't want Schmidt...he sucks. 807899[/snapback] Very insightful post...

June 13, 200519 yr Excerpt from the ESPN insider article The Marlins have expressed trade interest in Orioles right-hander Jorge Julio, and Yankees reliever Paul Quantrill is another possibility, provided the Yanks pay the bulk of his remaining salary. Quantrill is in the last season of a two-year, $6.4 million deal that pays him $3 million this year.

The WS might think Juan might be a better CF than Rowand, or Rowand might be involved in another deal for a 3B. I don't know
