June 15, 200521 yr OK, Mota has had a few appearances since coming off the DL and he has looked consistently shaky. He comes in to a 10 run game and walks 2 batters (almost a 3rd - guy fouled off Ball 4 before grounding out). You can argue that it was a 10 run lead and that he wasn't focused but I disagree for one reason: A major league pitcher should be able to throw strikes PERIOD. Especially someone shooting his mouth off about wanting to close games. Mota proved today that jack should not let him close. Stick with Jones!!!

June 15, 200521 yr the guy is just struggling. I'm not saying he is a good closer, but he is a premiere reliever. Not going to be the first or the last reliever to struggle
June 15, 200521 yr Well when your a pitcher like him and you throw hard and get a lot of strikeouts, to have the same amount of strikeouts as earned runs is terrible.
June 16, 200521 yr Could care less if he closers. He's a good pitcher, I'd argue better than anyone in the 'pen, and is just recovering from injury. Hopefully he'll get better. The club has invested a lot in him.
June 16, 200521 yr Sure he can't close now, so we need to go after Lidge. Jack should continue to give Mota innings like last night and today until he gets his act together again.
June 16, 200521 yr One of these nights Mota is going to have a 1-2-3 inning and build from there. I still believe by the end of the season, whether it's here or somewhere else, GM will be closing and doing it well.
