FSN to premiere new graphics soon

Featured Replies

as long as the graphics dont get those ANNOYING sound clips everytime something flashes on the screen. it seems that FOX has this idea that a batter's stats need to be accompanied by a sound clip when it flashes on the screen and then when it leaves the screen. they do it for their football games and i can't stand it.

The Rays TV on WXPX out of Tampa has the new graphics. I have the rabbit ears out to watch the game and here are some captures:

BTW, the sound effects aren't that annoying.

Some more caps:

I think these are much nicer. They are also smaller in size, but with easier to read text. Whenever a team hits a homer, a small banner appears under the strip that says "HOME RUN DEVIL RAYS" or "HOME RUN CARDINALS" in this game's case.

The ad for Crown is only for the Rays...they had that from before so don't worry about that coming to the Marlins telecasts.

:lol

So I can't figure that out for myself?

In case you can't tell, I am a minimalist.? I don't like the fancy stuff Fox tries to add that detracts from the game itself.

I'm counting the days until NBC can have the World Series again.

You were an NBC Speedreader I see. NBC shouldn't have the World Series until they show they can televise it with passion. The 2000 World Series was by far the worst ever televised in the last 20 years. Even CBS did a better job with their coverage in the early 90's.

Fox has brought baseball back from the dead on TV. Ratings keep getting younger and younger....that wasn't the same ten years ago.

Plus...watching a game in a public place doesn't always allow for audio or closed captioning.

I thought Fox had it in 2000.

I still watch my 1997 tapes once in a while, and I thought the coverage then was perfectly fine.

Sorry, I meant 1999. I always confuse the two years. It was the Yanks sweeping the Braves in 4 games.

Here are some caps from the Yanks-Cubs game. This game is on UPN 9 New York, but it is produced by the YES Network and uses the same graphics. Just replace the UPN 9 logo with the YES logo.

Just screams 1995 doesn't it? Like the RSTN graphics.

After 1996 the two most watched WS were those broadcast by NBC, so I don't think Fox is that special.

Sure they had a lot of viewers last year, but that was mainly because of the Sox. Still nowhere close to what it was 20 years ago.

Fox and FSN have put more into televising Major League Baseball than any other broadcaster has or ever will. It is an enormous effort.

And yet Tim McCarver is still there.

813755[/snapback]

Your point is what?

McCarver was with ABC and CBS as well. Only reason he wasn't with NBC is because ABC and then FOX had him under contract.

I don't like McCarver much, but he is better to listen to than Costas. Costas blow everything too out of proportion.

I could do without both of them.

The new graphics suck, i'm watching the Tigers game right now on FSN Detroit and it's got the new graphics... the graphics may look prettier but the crucial information that you need to know has shrunk to the point where you can barely see what inning it is. The font they used makes it impossible to tell what inning it is, too hard to distinguish between most numbers the front is so thick and small that it's impossible to differentiate between many numbers unless you're right up at the screen.

Costas is pure genius. I wish he was on FOX. I'll take Costas over McCarver anytime. Between him and Buck I don't know who I'd pick.

Looks like we won't be experiencing the new graphics tonight.

The scorestrip is what is new. The lower thirds and full-screen graphics were redone last year and weren't updated.

Too many beeps and robot sounds.

I hear R2-D2 may roll across the screen during the Seventh Inning Stretch to sing "Take Me Out To The Ballgame." :mischief
