June 24, 200521 yr I sense (wishfully) that the FO is moving. If they were to trade Encarnacion, who would be JP's back-up CF? Do you bring up Aguila for that limited role? Or a hot prospect and let him languish on the bench? I've said often we need some Major Surgery, not First-Aid. This is exciting, and bewildering. Glad I'm not in charge.

June 24, 200521 yr I say get rid of JP.The guy still has some value and Aguila will be better option at very least defensively.

A long-time minor leaguer is a better option than a long-time veteran and one of the best leadoff hitters in baseball... And you came up with that all by yourself? I am impressed!

June 24, 200521 yr I'd rather sell high on JP. I don't know if he'll ever reach those heights again, but if he ever does his value is extremely high. Maybe a few starts in center will spark Enc's interest. And it's not like Juan Pierre is a good centerfielder anyway. Aguila is a very capable 4th/5th outfielder down on the farm.
June 24, 200521 yr Don't shoot the messenger. Go check the zone and range stats. They don't lie. Your eyes and soft spot for a hard-working speedy guy might though.
June 24, 200521 yr Juan Pierre is one of the best leadoff hitters in the game today. One of the best centerfielders as well. Not too many guys can cover the ground he does. HE'S IN A SLUMP DAMMIT, A SLUMP! wHEN WILL YOU PEOPLE GET IT THROUGH YOUR THICK SKULLS THAT HE IS IN A SLUMP! Talent like that doesn't disappear over night, the guy is a proven player! ARRRRGGH!
June 24, 200521 yr Maybe it was Cris Carters speed camp that slowed him down. haha slowed JP down, whom still is one of the fastest players in baseball. as for the question in the title his back up is aguila.
