Posted July 4, 200519 yr He went out in 5IN allowing 3H 1ER 2BB 11K but as of right now he's going to take the lost, if Carolina doesn't come back in a 1-0 game. O ya Edwin Jackson is the other pitcher, yes the once top prospect of Dodgers. The Dodgers have him in AA Jacksonville to get his confidence back.
July 4, 200519 yr Author they came back in the 6th off Jackson with 2R and add on 2 more in 7th for the win, Vargas got a no-decision
July 4, 200519 yr Vargas the # 3 prospect on my list of our pitching prospects. Im beginning to think he can be useful reliver right now for us in the majors and would hold his on just fine. Â Â As for Jackson. He is not the same prospect he was before and im not sure how high the Dodgers are on him but what about a Lowell for Jackson and throw in low tier prospect or contract that runs this year trade?
July 4, 200519 yr Author the second game of the twin bill is just getting started with Josh Johnson on the mound Carolina
July 4, 200519 yr Good to see him continue to pitch well. I think we could very well see him on the opening day roster next season. Especially if we don't resign AJ. Vargas has yet to get his first professional hit though. He's now 0-3 at Carolina, in his first opportunity to hit as a professional. He was Long Beach State's 2nd or 3rd best hitter last year. I know nobody cares but I just thought it'd be interesting to see how he hit because he was such a good hitter in college.
