Posted July 19, 200519 yr The future of the Marlins is dependant on young fresh arms. It is my belief that, with the way to drafts have been going, that most pitching, starting and relievers, will be produced in house. I dont see any big free agent pickups for the rotation, not after this year. The rotation will be built around Josh Beckett and Dontrelle Willis, starting with Jason Vargas and Scott Olsen this year. Josh Johnson, Taylor Tankersly, possibly Logan Kensing once again, and soon Jeff Allison will soon be available to be plugged into the rotation. Players such as Kensing, a young left handed gun named Adam Bostick, Randy Messenger, Yorman Bazardo, and Chris Resop are all available or soon will be available to take spots in the bullpen. By the start of the 07 season, Resop/Bazardo should be our set up/closer combination, with Kensing being the bridge from the 6th to the 8th and Bostick being a situational lefty. With every draft will come a new influx of arms who will one day be ready to take the mound in the Marlins rotation or come in with the game on the line. And with every deal a new young minor league pitcher will come packaged with. This will cease the need for pricy contracts given to big time free agent pitchers, and I truly do believe that starting this offseason, all pitching will be developed in house.
July 19, 200519 yr Logan Kensing needs to consider a career change. I hear they are looking for someone to permantly pitch the HR derby at the all star game...otherwise good post and i do agree whole-heartdly.
July 19, 200519 yr Hot Rod......if your so worried about the future, why don't you wait till then to post again
July 19, 200519 yr Author The future is everything from this moment on, so it would be impossible for me to "wait until the future gets here" to post on it, unless you mean wait on those pitchers to be called up to write something about it. And I dont know how anyone could be mad that I start a topic like this, it is better than the meaningless drivel that has become the trade and "are we sellers yet" threads. I was trying to write something optimistic on how our future as far as hurlers go looks very bright and we shouldn't have to look for arms outside the orginization much, if we do at all, for a while. I am sorry for trying to bring up something optimistic.
July 19, 200519 yr The future should have been AJ, Beckett, Willis, Pavano and Penny. Instead now we'll have probably two of those if we are lucky since Beckett is always screwed up. Those guys are all still young, shame to not be able to keep them all. the other guys in the farm are just prospects, who knows when of if they will become aces like these guys.

July 19, 200519 yr Author Listen, yall dont have to attack me every time I post something. I thought it would be a good item to discuss, better than all the rampant trade threads.

July 19, 200519 yr Author all im saying is...this season isnt over and your projecting years down the line......stay with the present. 864104[/snapback] As I said, I was just trying to bring a new topic into discussion and see what yall thought about my views. We've discussed this in several threads. What more do you want? And I dont think that this way of thinking things, where we develop every arm we have, has ever been brought up.
