July 20, 200521 yr James Doohan, who played the chief engineer aboard Captain Kirk's USS Enterprise, died today at age 85. His character, Montgomery Scott, better known as "Scotty", appeared in "Star Trek Generations" and an episode of ST:TNG after the original series and the first six movies ended.
