If Burnett stays a Marlin?

Yeah, I'd take two draft picks over the O's trade. Penn and Bigbie have as much if not greater talent as your normal first round and supplemental round draft picks, but they don't exactly help our club any more than the pieces we already have in the major league or high minor league levels.

We could probably really take the Yanks in a deal for AJ...

Yanks get:

AJ Burnett

Marlins get:

Carl Pavano(and take on his salary)

Sean Henn(LHP Prospect with very impressive AA-AAA #'s)

Eric Duncan(3B prospect)

867508[/snapback]

Marlins would not take on Pavs' salary. It would be AJ for Pavs- straight up.

I think I'd rather have Chacin right now- he could help us win this year also.

:notworthy

Not to mention, how many 20 something pitching prospects and average bullpen arms do we have?

Yes but Beinfest would not do AJ for Pavano straight up. The package I mentioned is GOLDEN

if he stays a marlin then we can still make a solid run. We still will need bullpen help though.

I don't think bullpen help is that much necessary with AA returning healthy and Valdez as either spot starter/long reliever....that is two arms that you didn't have for a long long time...

I'd rather get more value than picks if the Marlins are convinced AJ will not sign with them after the year , but i am starting to think that he will not be moved. AS much talent as AJ has for the most part it hasnt translated on the field, the Marlins are going to want alot (rightfully so) given the market of available pitchers but azlot of teams arent going to want to give up the farm for a guy who doesnt have an overwhelming track record and most importantily may not sign with you after the season. The circumstances of this year are just right for alot of talk but not alot of action
