Big Hurt's career might be done

Frank Thomas is likely to miss the rest of the season because of a fracture in his surgically repaired left foot.

''It appears Frank has re-injured his foot over the last two weeks while playing baseball, and recent evaluation shows a new fracture through the navicular in his foot,'' Dr. Richard Ferkel said. ''Because of the healing time involved with this fracture, it does not appear that Frank will be able to return back to the White Sox this season.'' Thomas should be ready for the start of 2006, but there's a good chance that he'll be playing for another team. With Thomas done, the White Sox have a greater need for another bat than a pitcher right now. Jul. 29 - 4:33 pm et

It doesn't say it here but ESPN mentioned Thomas is considering ending his career.

The Big Hurt was my favorite player when I was a kid in the early-mid 90's. It'll be a real shame if his career is over.

I wonder if he's a hall of famer... I say yes.

This is crushing news. I've been a fan of Frank for the longest time, and now that the ChiSox are finally a threat to go all the way, he's forced to sit it out. I can only imagine how frustrated he must be.
