August 8, 200521 yr Who or what are these yellow ribbons supposed to be honoring? I've seen them throughout MLB this weekend.
August 8, 200521 yr link During Sunday's series finale against the Marlins, expect to see lots of gold. No, players and coaches won't be making a fashion statement. Instead, the Reds and Marlins will be supporting the 2005 Commissioner's Initiative For Kids courtesy of Ameriquest. Between the beginning of August and mid-September, more than one million free tickets will be given out to kids at ballparks across the country. Fifteen thousand free tickets have been made available for Sunday. In support of that, players and personnel will be wearing gold wristbands, gold ribbons on their uniforms, and a gold logo will be placed on the bases. The 2005 Commissioner's Initiative For Kids courtesy of Ameriquest benefits both the Boys & Girls Clubs of America and CureSearch National Childhood Cancer Foundation.
