RECALL JEREMY HERMIDA!

Featured Replies

Ok Mr. Beinfest. If anyone else gets injured, he could also.

Hermida will be brought up whenever they bring him up. Lets hope sooner rather than later.

Exactly. So what's the point in worrying? Right now, Aguila is filling in adequately well and once people are healthy (let's worry about the case of more injuries if and only if it happens), he will only be getting a weekly fill-in start at best.

It's not merely injuries that factor in, but also roster space. When you're playing 21 games in 20 days, including a double header in Colorado, you need an extra arm to take some innings. With Lo Duca out for a few days, you need a third catcher. If these nagging injuries don't get better and Hermida can get a few days of straight starts in the majors, hopefully he'll be brought up.

Offense is not a problem with the whole lineup healthy - the Fish are the only NL team in the eight in team batting average and are up there with the Card and Phils for tops in OBP. The back end of the rotation (Moehler/Valdez) and Jones' setup men are what is costing us the most wins (not surprisingly, the team ERA balloons by a full run from the seventh inning on - and that factors in Jones' lights out performances).

I think you overrate Mike Lowell's defense.? I know many here believe he is gold-glove caliber, but from what I've seen combined with scouting reports he is closer to an above average defender.? As for Cabrera, I'm not sure where you got those "at least 5 errors," but I'm convinced that the offensive boost, which we are dire need (have you been watching the last few games?), is more important than a perceived gap in hot corner defense.

It's pretty difficult to overrate the all time leader in fielding percentage at third base Shammy.

Almost as easy as it is to overrate fielding percentage.

Yeah, but considering there's been hundreds of third basemen in baseball's history and you know Mike Lowell is ahead of all of them, it wouldn't be too much of a leap to say he's a great defensive third baseman.

Just saying.

I think Lowell's defense is underrated.

Perhaps nationally unrecognized, but not underrated.

You could make the case that since it's just about the only thing keeping him as a regular, it's dangerously close to being overrated...because in no way is he saving us as many runs as he's costing us with his bad bat.

That's what Im saying.....he is the greatest fielding 3rd baseman of all time percentage wise, yet nobody even recognizes him as the best defensive 3rd baseman in today's game (Rolen).

No, I really don't think that's what you're saying since I pretty much disagreed with you.

This is becoming a semantic argument of the worst kind.

So he's the best, well Rolens better, he's underrated, he's overrated, his stats are great, stats don't mean anything...sheesh.

The guy is a pretty good third baseman. Move on.
