August 19, 200520 yr Here's the thing...what's more likely, the offense getting better down the stretch or the offense getting worse? Honestly, it can't get much worse, and if it stays where it is at, the team has survived the last couple of weeks (and most of the season) with a stagnant offense and is right in the thick of the playoff race....If the offense can find a way to click in the last month, this team will be very tough to beat.
August 19, 200520 yr The offense simply needs to get the job done when it can. In 03 there were times when the offense struggled, just that in big games down the stretch they were able more often than not to produce enough to win the games. Thats really all we need to do now.
August 19, 200520 yr the explanation is.. Jake Peavy. kid is an animal. and last i checked the Padres have one of the best bullpens in the National League. it isnt always the Marlins fault. it is feasable that they will run into great pitching sometime. so yes the offense wasnt there last night but neither was the Padres. thats whats important.
