August 20, 200520 yr I know that Kip Wells is going to be an FA and I think he'd be a good guy to plug in the rotation if we lose AJ. The Main reason for this was tonight because he absolutely owns the Phillies. The right-hander improved to 5-0 with a 1.26 ERA against Philadelphia for his career. In his last win before the streak, Wells shut out the Phillies and struck out 12 on July 5. I'd consider signing him anyways....Sorry for being an ass but i had to post it.
August 20, 200520 yr If AJ doesn't return next year, which he probably won't, then i'd love to get Kip Wells.
August 20, 200520 yr I'd get him just to start him against the Phillies.....he's the anti-Randy Wolf.
August 20, 200520 yr Here is Wells' stats against other NL East teams ATL: 1-2 2.43 ERA .265BAA (40.2IP) NYM: 2-2 3.70 ERA .269BAA (24.1IP) WAS: 1-3 5.12ERA .262BAA(31.2 IP) PHI: 4-0 1.26 ERA .184BAA (28.2 IP)
August 20, 200520 yr Are you sure that Kip is a FA after this season ? I thought he has one more year left...
August 20, 200520 yr Yes, he is not a free agent until after 2006. I had suggested this already as well.
August 21, 200520 yr He'd be available for trade. They supposedly were planning to this season, but Wells hadn't pitched well enough for the Pirates to get good value. Although the Pirates need young hitters and they have C/1B/3B/LF (Willingham's positions) well covered.
