According to Michael Kay, Steve Trachsel has cleared waivers and could be traded to Red Sox

For what though? One of the local papers (I forget which) mentioned the problem is the players that cleared waivers on the interested teams aren't too appealing and they aren't looking to move him for prospects.

John Olerud, Kevin Youkilis, and Kevin Millar were mentioned, but Mientkiewicz and Jacobs will get all the playing time at 1st. I'd like to see Shoppach come back, otherwise deal him to someone else for bullpen help. There has to demenad for him, he's the best pitcher available and lots of teams need pitching help.

Id deal Millar or Olerud in a heartbeat.

Youklis wont be traded.

if the mets get youkilis it would be a steal.. But they wouldnt have anywhere to play him. They need a 1st or a catcher badly.

Millar would be terrible fit for Mets. Park is too big for him and with his offensive struggles (nevermind his craptacular defense), he'd be a waste for Mets.

Youkilis wouldn't clear waivers anyway.

According to Sean McAdam on WEEI the Red Sox inquired about Trachsel but the match couldn't be made because the Mets wanted a relief pitcher.
