September 8, 200519 yr I didn't like it at the time - and I still feel that way. At the time my family was season ticket holders of the Sea Dogs and we could watch Ross Gload play - he was a pretty good player. He hit for the cycle in the exhibition game the Sea Dogs played against the Marlins in Portland. With the Cubs' AAA team he was playing really well - something like 18 home runs in 36 games (he had 18 with the Sea Dogs prior to that for the entire season) and was called up. His first major league hit? A home run. He's turned into a solid 1B/LF/DH for the White Sox (injured for most of this year, though).
September 9, 200519 yr I remember when he was on the Cubs and the bleacher bums would throw the "O Henry" bars onto the field after he hit a homer or made a good defensive play. Good times indeed.
September 9, 200519 yr I remember that trade. It was actually a surprise that the FO would go out and get someone like him. Oh well :whistle
September 9, 200519 yr He had like 22 HR that season, so he was productive. But when he came to the Marlins, he didn't do crap. His batting average was very bad--something around Mike Lowell.
