September 11, 200520 yr If you're one of the people who didn't like his contract... or were in the group who ripped on him for his career 2nd half woes.. or some of the people who don't want him playing with a hurt wheel.... you really got respect and admire what he's doing right now. All heart. Says something about a guy who can go from being the team leader on one team to being an immediate team leader on another team. I really worry about him though. One one hand, we really need him healthy but theres no time for him to get healthy. If we sat him for the rest of the season, maybe he'd be healthy for the postseason.. but we need him to get into the postseason. I've gained a lot of respect for a guy who I already had a ton of respect for in the first place... I just wish his hammy could magically heal.
September 11, 200520 yr I remember when somebody trashed me for calling LoDuca a clubhouse leader. I can't find the post though, but yeah. I think I was proven right here.
September 11, 200520 yr I never disliked him or the energy he put into the game. The trade, the contract, their timing has nothing to do with him, only the team's ability to scout talent and Just pointing that there's a negative to every positive and that neither should be ignored. Surely LoDuca's pride and will to play has brought on some of his poor second half numbers (which have improved this year as I predicted during the middle of the season), poor health and has hurt his teams at some point. I don't know if he steams over being benched like JP, I'd imagine not, but that's another thing you have to consider with this whole intangibles game you're playing. It is quite amazing what he did last night though. And like you said, it's probably for the best for him to do the impossible and put that will away for a few weeks, take it easy and get healthy. Not only do we have October, we have 2 more years invested in him. Peteyrave, that was probably me. Seems a bit much to call him a leader, as some were doing the day the very day he was acquired, when we have so many leaders here that had a pulse and control of the clubhouse before he came. Then again, you also have to consider the negatives of having too many leaders in the clubhouse. Or what or whose message this leaders are preaching and how it might be taken.
September 11, 200520 yr There are those things that just don't show up in the box scores, Dokie has those intangibles. Unfortunately for him a hammie doesn't get better by playing on it, so the team needs to get a 5 game lead in the WC so he can rest up for October.

The amount of time he's going to need to get to 100% simply isn't there. So with the Marlins potentially having to play with a hobbled LoDuca in the playoffs (since resting it won't do that much mre), playing him is about the only option, but I don't think he's going to go back to being a regular until he's able to at least jog. The thing I'm worried about is that having him continue to play on this could result in permanent damage.
September 11, 200520 yr Loduca is turning into one of my Fav. players. He plays the game hard, he is injured and still goes out there with the bad hammy and still produces. Thats what a true team player is. He limps to the bases but gets the job done.
September 11, 200520 yr we really need him in the lineup down the stretch. even 80%. treanor is killing us!
