Superb outings by the D-Train and Beckett allowed us to keep pace. We come out of Houston just where we started.

 

Too bad the offense and AJ didn't show up for the final two games. It would have been sweet to hold the WC lead.

 

Now we have to count on other teams to help us get back into the lead. Let's hope Milwaukee can stay hot.

 

Big series against the Phillies and thank God we have Dontrelle and Beckett for the final two games.

 

Lieber is 5-8 on the road, so a good outing by Moehler tomorrow could put us in a strong position to win the series.

The last couple weeks of the season just might kill me

Remember early in the season when it seemed like any starting pitcher we threw out there was dominating?

 

Somebody else in the rotation is going to have to step up. Our offense simply doesn't score a lot of runs.

 

The Marlins can't make it with only 2 starters. Vargas pitched better tonight, but Valdez doesn't have it, and who knows when AJ will come around. Moehler could really help tomorrow night.

 

'Course on a night like tonight when the offense only scores 1 run, it doesn't really matter.. :confused

I don't mind a 2-2 split IN Houston. Ya, Burnett and Vargas lost, but neither pitched horribly. I'm more upset at the bullpen.

Hmm, I'm still trying to forget all those outings by Leiter. :confused

 

But overall you have to hand it to the guys. They had a good road trip against three tough teams. 6-5 isn't too bad. There was the possibility of getting blown out of the race in Houston and we managed a split. We battled our way back into WC contention and now have the most favorable home schedule of the contenders.
