Am I the only one who feels that Olsen isn't physically mature enough to handle the rigors of a full big league season?

More than likely, your not. But it might come down to wether or not he is the best option, and with the thin market of SP going into the offseason, he very well could be. Same goes for Johnson. But, in a small sample size, he showed he could get the job done, and he is a K machine.

A rotation of Willis/Beckett/Olsen/Johnson/Vargas might be what this team needs. Vargas showed he could get the job done. Olsen did as well in limited pt. Johnson is in the same boat is Olsen.

Vargas ain't gonna do anything until he gets a third pitch....guarantee he comes back with the same arsenal next year and he'll have a losing record.

He's been tinkering with a slider this season, if I'm not mistaken. I think he'll come back next season with three pitches.

That could be right. He's way too thin in my opinion. He needs to add some bulk.

Sounds like the same career path of one Dontrelle Willis

Dontrelle has a funky delivery which batters have trouble adjusting to go with the two pitches....

Dontrelle has three pitches... FB, Slider, and Changeup. And, actually, the dude has three or four different fastballs. The four seamer at 92-94, two seamer 88-91, BP fastball 85-87, and a sinker at around 84. It's not just his funky delivery that gets hitters out, he's got a pretty good arsenal of pitches to work with. He changes speeds well.

If Vargas comes back with a third pitch he'll do fine. He knows he won't survive with 2 pitches.

Vargas already has a breaking ball he just doesnt throw it often because he still doesnt have confidence in it yet.

Dontrelle rarely ever threw that change-up, which IMO still isn't very good, in 2003 and 2004. That was a my point. Vargas is going to have to make adjustments, but it's not the hardest adjustment to make. All it takes is the realization that smallest bit of trust in his stuff can make him more dynamic.

A team hoping to make the postseason can't rely on three rookie starters.Look at Oakland, Harren, Blanton, Sarloos.I'm watching.....them not make the playoffs.
