Do any of you think the Dolphins are going to make the playoffs this year and do you think the Nick Saban will take the Fins to the promise land?

Playoffs this year? Maybe, depends on a lot of factors.

 

The promised land? God willing.

 

I think 2006 will be our year to make some noise. I think this team is just a stopgap until Saban gets his full personnel here and we can really rock and roll.

It's a possibility, especially with the way we've been playing these games. The Fins have been playing very average football in all 3 games, with the exception being the D Line.

 

Gus Frerotte went 14-33 today! But Brown stepped up big time.

 

This team has a lot of talent, and a lot of potential. Think about when Ricky comes back...Just two more weeks *shiver*

Well, Last years 4-12 disaster I put squarely on the O-Line. Yes Ricky retired, but with the O-Lines play last year, do you really think he would have had a good season. Yes the Quarterbacks weren't exactly anyones cup of tea. But, do you think Tom Brady, or the Great Dan Marino would have been able to make accurate throws while they were running for thier lives? For crying out loud, they couldn't pick up a simple blitz. And yes, there were those screen passes that Wanny stubbornly kept calling that were systematically picked off and returned for touchdowns. Oh yeah, and those injuries.

 

Miami's defense was good last year, just overworked with poor field possesion due to turnovers, and countless offensive 3 and outs. Last year, the Dolphins gave up 354 points/ 22.1 points a game. But that includes all of the td returns given up by the Offense, and one from the special teams which I believe accounts for 11 touchdowns or 77 points. which means, even though the defense was overworked, they managed to make every game winnable except for that Monday night massacre at New York. 10 of 12 losses came by 10 points or less.

 

Now with ricky expected to come back, the offensive line extremely much improved (only 2 sacks given up so far),the defense still playing mostly like thier old selves, and injuries are less numerous than last year, I surely do believe that this team can make the playoffs or atleast 8-8 at worst 7-9.

I like how Nick Saban operates, he takes no bull. He is aggresive and is not afraid of his tactics or strategys. I think with that type of discipline they will make the playoffs soon and win the Super Bowl.

There are too many good teams in the AFC and our schedule is a bitch. So, I say no. We could go 10-6 and far exceed everyone's expectations, and still not make the playoffs. I'd still be quite happy with 8-8. It's amazing how much of a difference a coaching staff can make, though. I can't believe how well our O-line played today.

i believe this team will go 8-9, yes tthat means we make the playoffs but i just dont see us getting past the first round THIS YEAR. Next year once we get omar jacobs or whoever we get, WE will def be a contender, in my booy at least!

No way in Hell would an 8-8 team make the playoffs in the AFC.

Haven't we ever learned...Phins will start off llike 7-1 and then collapse and miss the playoffs after New England scores 35 points in the 4th quarter to win 35-34 after Mare missed an extra point to knock the phins out of a playoff spot in the last game of the season. Then NE fans throw snowballs at the players and a huge riot ensues.

 

Anyways an 8 win season and I'm happy.

I'm torn. I want the Fins to win, and I'll admit, I got excited about football for the first time in 2 years after yesterday's win, but deep-down, I know this team doesn't have the talent to go far in the playoffs if they make it, and really it'd probably serve the team better if they were to play for the Matt Leinert pick instead of the playoffs. Either way, it's good to see that Saban has come in and been a difference maker (and proven me quite wrong).

this is a strung together team this year that is piece mail. No it isnt made for the playoffs and would need the following to get there.

 

1. Help in the secondary.

2. No major injuries for the rest of the year

3. Ricky to come out and be amazing.

4. Better 2nd and 4th quarter production from Gus

5. Even better offensive line improviement, specially guards and centers.

 

 

Next year we get 28 million plus howard, aj and a few others money off of the books. they will pick up a good Safety/LB/CB to add to the defense and a guard i bet there.. plus I see us drafting a safety, a guard/center, a QB project along with the rest. Along with resigning McMichael.

 

Once all of that is done, then I would indeed agree that we are ready. But for now we have alot of holes still.

The only QB prospects that I like are Stanton and Jacobs.

 

Matt's already have elbow surgery and he doesn't have NFL arm strength.

Miami is getting is done by playing under their potential. They are the league leaders in penalties, the secondary is iffy, and gus frerotte has played poorly the last two games....Yet they are 2-1 and are making headway in the division.

 

Imagine when Ricky comes back, and that opens up the field even more...Wow, Ricky and Ronnie in the backfield together=FIELD DAY.

 

And once Shulters is inserted into the 1st string, we'll be good in secondary

 

Defensive line=great

 

Offensive line=arguably better than last year.
