Why was the infield sodded over for the Jets game?
NBC and Stephen Ross ordered it be done, so it would look good on national TV. And yes, it will be done for the Patriots game as well. And with all the tropical rain we will be having it'll be a mess to get back to playing shape for Friday's game with the Pirates. Boy think about the attendance for those games......talk about a depressing way to end a season. It can't end soon enough. No it wont, baseball dirt will not be covered for Monday night game... I agree. How could they possibly lay sod lass than 24 hours before the game an have it not be a safety hazard? 4 days before the Jets game was insane enough. It really not possible to do... Dolphins have already announced that they will not place it over dirt for the game. The next home game after the pats the field will be set with baseball being obviously over Well if the Dolphins have announced it, then it won't be done. I didn't realize they had done that publically. The field diamond is now covered in grass. Dolphins Stadium Web Cam

UM @ FSU
Wow what a game. But to me, I think our DB's and LB's are playing to far off the line of scrimmage. Seemed like Ponder was throwing a ton of short passes for a good chunk of yardage. Kinda like playing your outfield deep to keep hitters to singles instead of doubles. and where did Lou disappear to after the game.

The end is near...
http://www.miamitodaynews.com/news/090108/...viewpoint.shtml Another anti-stadium rant. i really hate this negative bulls*** is there anything positive ever published by this horrendous media down here towards the new stadium or marlins fans in general? the media is about negative news, never positive news. What I got from this article is that the writer must have tweeked his/her writing skills from a message board. Using some truths as a prelude to passing off half truths and non truths as facts to support his/her opinion, hoping beyond belief that no one will bother to actually look up the facts. Classic message board journalism. I believe the deal gets done. But be honest with yourselves. If this thing went to a public vote, do you really think it would pass?? Of course it wouldn't. Not becuase people don't want the stadium, but becuase of that little three letter word called "Tax". That is all they will see, even though it won't come from Miami Dade property taxes, or sales tax. The voters would cry "Schools, Police, Fire" even though the Hotel Bed Tax can only be used for Tourist and Convention Development (stadiums).

A little fun fact about the marlins last year
I believe one of those games was against the Rockies on July 4. Yup. An 18-17 loss. We led 13-4 top 4th. Then the Rockies brought it back to 13-12 in the 6th. extended lead to 17-12 in top 7th. They hit a grandslam in the bottom 7th to make it 17-16. And then everyone's favorite closer blew it in the ninth.

Hurricanes start cleaning house?
Patrick Nix gets Canned! Nix packed up his office Monday evening after a brief meeting with Miami coach Randy Shannon. "It's time to part ways, but I really enjoyed my time here," Nix told The Associated Press as he and his family prepared to leave the football complex for the final time. "I loved these players to death. I loved these coaches to death. But in the long run, it's probably better that we make this change." ESPN.com

The Dolphins...
Well Favre is getting an MRI on his shoulder, so I think he may not go to the Pro Bowl if his shoulder is bothering him.

The Dolphins...
Now how are they going to do this? The Orange Bowl is January 3rd, so I guess Miami would play the following Sunday. or Do they postpone the Orange Bowl? The last time this situation happened was Jan 2, 1999 Miami beat Buffalo 24-17, and they moved the Orange Bowl game to the orange bowl where the Gators beat Syracuse. The Orange Bowl is being played on Jan. 1st. whoopsie. Brain fart. :thumbup

NFL Thread- Week 16
From NFL.com "Next Sunday's game between the rivals in San Diego has been moved from 4:15 p.m. ET to 8:15 p.m. and will be televised by NBC as part of the NFL's flexible scheduling. The Miami Dolphins-New York Jets and Jacksonville Jaguars-Baltimore Ravens games will move to 4:15 p.m. ET on CBS and the Dallas Cowboys-Philadelphia Eagles game will move to 4:15 p.m. ET on FOX, the NFL announced Monday." Also, because the Jags are on the road, Dolfans in Gainesville, and possibly 50-50 Orlando may not receive the Dolphins-Jets. I believe that when a home team is on the road, in this case the jags, the secondary markets are required to pick up the game.

NFL Thread- Week 16
i cant believe they flexed f***ing sd/den - a game where the winner will be 8-8 - over miami/nyj Especially since this game was the 4 pm national game anyways. I wonder if they'll move Miami/NY to the late afternoon to take its place.

The Orange Bowl Demolition Thread
Don't know about the east end zone but they do wanna preserve the scoreboard. I thought the scoreboard was going to be transferred to another park in the City of Miami for use there. The May 19th Article on the stadium The last indicator that football was played at the Orange Bowl is the scoreboard. In time, that too will be removed, but the team plans on preserving a piece of that board. "The sign that is on top of the scoreboard, that says, Orange Bowl, the team is going to save," Samson said. "We're going to incorporate that into the new building. We don't know how yet, but we recognize the historical importance of that site. We're going to combine that with the history of the Marlins, and our two World Series titles. We're going to have some sort of homage to that." As for the scoreboard itself, efforts are being made to see if it can be recycled and used by another school.
