1.Why was it sodded for the Jets game? I thought they waited until the season was over to sod it. And how they hell can it take root in only 3 or 4 days(Wednesday was the last Marlins home game)? I thought we had the best grounds crew in MLB. They must've be crackheads to put sod down with only 3 or 4 days for it to take root when it takes weeks for that to properly happen. And they have to pull it up for the Pirates series so why even bother putting it down? I asked this on another forum and someone speculated that the infield was sodded over for the Jets game to prevent a mud bowl. But football is supposed to be played in the mud.

2. Please tell me they're not gonna sod it Sunday night for the Patriots game not 24 hours later.

Incase you can't tell, I'm pissed about the TD the loose sod gave up to Braylon Edwards. Also, 15 or so years ago Marino tore his Achilles on loose sod that was covering the infield in Cleveland. I wouldn't shed a tear if that happened to Brady on Monday night. Ok just kidding(crosses fingers behind back).:p

Well, at least this won't be an issue anymore once the new stadium opens.

Wrong forum, this should be in Other Sports.

Also, am I the only one that noticed that there was no sod there? Seriously. There was only sod where the infield dirt was (you could actually see the line where the dirt was in the highlight) and there is zero infield dirt where the play happened. This particular absence of though kinda kills me (not by you, but by Colinsworth who decided to say there was sod there).

Just a follow up, here's the image.

At the top left-hand corner you can see that the grass suddenly becomes greener. That's the sod. Allen just straight up slipped.

was their agreement between marlins and dolphins to do that ? when i read their going do this i say what going their never done this before why now their trying make statement to marlins get out soon you can this our home we dont like dirty

That what I thought too. I just took the the announcers' word for it since I couldn't tell. I was dubious when Collinsworth said the sod was the brown grass.

But questions still remain. Why did they sod it if the Marlins weren't done yet and how is 4 day old sod football game ready?

So you're saying that you read somewhere that they don't usually sod the infield before the last game of the season and they were doing something different this year?

NBC and Stephen Ross ordered it be done, so it would look good on national TV. And yes, it will be done for the Patriots game as well. And with all the tropical rain we will be having it'll be a mess to get back to playing shape for Friday's game with the Pirates. Boy think about the attendance for those games......talk about a depressing way to end a season. It can't end soon enough.

I know why the Dolphins lost. They didn't play as well as the Jets. So tired of excuses from Dolphins fans. You guys have the perfect season and Marino. Oh and ace ventura pet detective. Hold on tight to those.

If you visit a true Dolphins fan site like The Phins.com you'll see most DolFans are not making excuses. We were outcoached in the 1st qtr, and had no answer for the TE Keller. We actually did play better than the Jets and scored more points the last 3qtrs, but the game was lost by then. We will be ready for the Patriots, and as young as our team is, we have a bright, bright future. No so with the old, old Jets. I remember in 2008, with a worse team, Miami lost at home in the opener to the Jets and then went on to win the division.......its a long 16 game season, just don't count them out yet.

And you're a fan of who? You better not say Jets because that'd be hilarious.

Dolphins don't 'straight up slip.' if it wasn't the sod, then another explanation has to be found. Preferably one involving the Marlins, the '72 season and the Jets cheating.

I agree. How could they possibly lay sod lass than 24 hours before the game an have it not be a safety hazard? 4 days before the Jets game was insane enough.

It's football fans in general my friend.

I feel the same way you do about Dolphans sometimes though, that's why I run as far as possible from sports radio the day after they lose.

But you need to remember, it wasn't Dolphans that came up with the sod thing, it was Chris Colinsworth, because he sucks.

I wouldn't mind seeing something like this for the last series of the year

It really not possible to do... Dolphins have already announced that they will not place it over dirt for the game. The next home game after the pats the field will be set with baseball being obviously over

I call BS. If you were a fan of the Dolphins you would have said "OUR fans". That is the way real fans talk. So I call BS.

Multiple sources have said it will be done for the Monday game. You could be right though, the NBC game was considered more important, because its the NBC game. Monday night games now are not considered the top game of the week, since they moved to ESPN.

Well if the Dolphins have announced it, then it won't be done. I didn't realize they had done that publically.

That's interesting. I thought they did it for the looks on a nationally televised game. I could understand that. But then not do it for another one? Maybe time constraints?

To me it dosen't matter. There are no excuses for either team when it comes to this. Both play on the same field. Actually, the home team should have a slight advantage because they should be better knowledgable on how to overcome/bypass/use the areas.

LOL Okay. I won't continue with raising each other's BS calls. But just to clarrify, you don't mind when people say you never go to Marlins games and don't support them? That you only watch them on TV? Or are you saying the "real fans" are the ones going to the games?

I usually make a joke out of it. As in, "We have season tickets. Yep, that's right. We're the ones. Want my autograph?"

Im not quite sure what you're getting at, but the specific post back there was him being critical of fans, implying that he would be better or greater than the other fans.

Are you calling me lesser of a fan for being that person that you're talking about? I dont go to Marlin games very often. I cant even watch them on TV anymore ever since I moved to Orlando. I lived very far away and until July I never had a car in my life. I was lucky to make it to a good 6 or 7 games last year, and now I'm stuck watching them on MLB Gameday every time they play.

You want a real fan? I'm not trying to be full of myself here, but there you go. If you can honestly sit there and watch MLB gameday every single game, then you're a real fan.

Being overly critical and placing yourself on a high chair does not make you a better fan, it makes you an asshole.
