Why was the infield sodded over for the Jets game?

I call BS to the BS where you called BS.

He is seperating himself from other fans.

THAT IS NOT the way a real fan talks.

LOL Okay. I won't continue with raising each other's BS calls. But just to clarrify, you don't mind when people say you never go to Marlins games and don't support them? That you only watch them on TV? Or are you saying the "real fans" are the ones going to the games?

I usually make a joke out of it. As in, "We have season tickets. Yep, that's right. We're the ones. Want my autograph?"

Im not quite sure what you're getting at, but the specific post back there was him being critical of fans, implying that he would be better or greater than the other fans.

Are you calling me lesser of a fan for being that person that you're talking about? I dont go to Marlin games very often. I cant even watch them on TV anymore ever since I moved to Orlando. I lived very far away and until July I never had a car in my life. I was lucky to make it to a good 6 or 7 games last year, and now I'm stuck watching them on MLB Gameday every time they play.

You want a real fan? I'm not trying to be full of myself here, but there you go. If you can honestly sit there and watch MLB gameday every single game, then you're a real fan.

Being overly critical and placing yourself on a high chair does not make you a better fan, it makes you an asshole.

Not at all. As a matter of fact, I have far more respect for a fan that is out of the area and yet still cares enough to keep track of their team in any way possible than I do for locals who sit at home watching the games on TV and then whine every time the media, local and national, blasts the fan base for not going to the games.

Everybody has a different definition of what a "real fan" is. I don't have one at all in this market.... an event oriented, place to be seen type thing. Almost 30 years ago when I moved here I would have said there are no "real fans" in South Florida. Now I just see it as being a different type of fan base. Very passionate about their teams, just need to be coddled into actually going to the games. In any sport. Heck, I don't even get ticked off about the excuses anymore. After all, it's a "It's not my fault" society that we live in.

NBC and Stephen Ross ordered it be done, so it would look good on national TV. And yes, it will be done for the Patriots game as well. And with all the tropical rain we will be having it'll be a mess to get back to playing shape for Friday's game with the Pirates. Boy think about the attendance for those games......talk about a depressing way to end a season. It can't end soon enough.

No it wont, baseball dirt will not be covered for Monday night game...

I agree. How could they possibly lay sod lass than 24 hours before the game an have it not be a safety hazard? 4 days before the Jets game was insane enough.

It really not possible to do... Dolphins have already announced that they will not place it over dirt for the game. The next home game after the pats the field will be set with baseball being obviously over

Well if the Dolphins have announced it, then it won't be done. I didn't realize they had done that publically.

How is that even possible? Sod taking root in 24 hours? I think I'm gonna find a gardening forum ask there. Maybe its actually turf stapled to plywood and they bolt it down or something.

Damn. MUST have been the field :x

Yep, it threw the punter off so the Pats got to him, allowed the Pats to pick up the ball and run for a touchdown. Yep it was the field :whistle

:lol

Who said I was blaming the field? And it was halftime when I made my previous post. That's not even what I care about anymore. I just wanna know how sod can get rooted so quickly or otherwise what the grounds crew does to make it football game ready so quickly. I'm surprised noone else is curious.

It was somebody from the Dolphins, I believe, who blamed the field for someone slipping/falling because of the sand infield in previous year. So Ross had them sod it for the Jets game (and it is true it is more pleasing to look at solid green). But someone tripped/big chunk of sod flew up in the Jets game.

Nothing to do with you.

Noone tripped in the Jets game on the sod, they weren't on the sod. Chris Colinsworth pulled that out of his ass.
