December 30, 200817 yr Patrick Nix gets Canned! Nix packed up his office Monday evening after a brief meeting with Miami coach Randy Shannon. "It's time to part ways, but I really enjoyed my time here," Nix told The Associated Press as he and his family prepared to leave the football complex for the final time. "I loved these players to death. I loved these coaches to death. But in the long run, it's probably better that we make this change." ESPN.com
December 30, 200817 yr I didn't mind the offense this year all that much, they were just young. Next year Shannon needs to show something. Too many times the team just didn't look prepared.

That happens when you have that much inexperience on the field... almost entirely regardless of the quality of coaching staff
December 30, 200817 yr I am so freakin' happy about this news, the best thing that could have happened to the Miami Hurricanes. With the right OC I fully expect us to contend for the ACC title next. Patrick Nix was absolute garbage as the OC here, I literally feel I may have been able to do a better job than him. I am celebrating this news like we just won the title game. :arms :arms :arms :arms :arms :arms :arms :arms :arms :arms :arms :arms :arms :arms
December 30, 200817 yr Year 1 he fires the DC he hired. Year 2 he fires the OC he hired. Both were bad hires... as was Shannon. No more scapegoats left. I doubt any up and comer or anyone with a proven track record will coach under Shannon.
December 30, 200817 yr Let's be honest, it doesn't matter who the OC is if the players don't start stepping up. Ever since Dorsey/McGahee/Johnson left our offenses have been mediocre at best. It's hard to put points up on the board when your "stud" recruits underperform.

I think this is right: '03 - Chud '04 - Werner '05 - Werner '06 - Olson '07 - Nix '08 - Nix '09 - New Guy You need the right guy but there has being no continuity. I think Kyle had 4 different coordinators.

Lets hope he can recruit another good class and leave them for the next head coach b/c Shannon has at most one more season at the U.
December 30, 200817 yr Now Marve is going. I never was too impressed with that kid. It's Jacory's team now.
December 30, 200817 yr Marve is going to be great wherever he goes.... But i like J.Harris better.....
December 30, 200817 yr The release comes with conditions that don't sit well with Marve. He can't play for teams in the Atlantic Coast Conference, the Southeastern Conference or the state of Florida. It's not unusual for programs to place restrictions on the deal when a marquee player transfers. Thats some tough restrictions.... Guess they dont want it to comeback and bite then on the a**.....

Why would they ban him from going to an SEC school?

For whatever reason the media honeymooon continues and until the media turns on him he'll be safe. My prediction is the media will turn on him durign the '10 season as they will no longer be able to make excuses for his lack of success without looking like complete fools. His (and Coker's) '07 recruiting class was not particularly good. His '08 was good but ranked as high as it did (No. 5) moreso because of the number of recruits than the quality of the recruits. He can't give out 33 scholarships every year due to the 85 scholarship limit. Even with some attrition from the 33 he'll only have about 60 scholarships the next 4 seasons.
January 1, 200917 yr It does at least look like they might have finally found some decent receivers there, after several years of some god-awful wideouts. No more Ryan Moores and Sam Shields hopefully. So Jacory will at least have someone to throw to. Hopefully they will make a good selection for the new OC. I kinda favored Marve more early, but he never really came out and won the job. Harris usually looked good when he came in, just needs some more confidence.
