October 11, 200521 yr Dial M for Manny Pedro Martinez made a show on the last weekend of the regular season to thank the Mets beat writers, handing out business cards that read, ''Pedro Martinez, Pitcher," with his cellphone number. Call only if it's an emergency, he said. What constitutes an emergency, he was asked. ''Call me when we get Manny," was the reply. http://www.boston.com/sports/articles/2005..._is_hot/?page=5 :notworthy
October 11, 200521 yr seriously i think the mets are just enamored with big names. they need to do some hard searching for BP help.
October 11, 200521 yr Author Already giving up on Beltran? Well, seeing as Manny has hired a new agent for the sole prupose of forcing a trade, I think the Mets are in the driver's seat on this one. And even if it does cost Beltran, I love the guy but freely admit he's grossly overpaid. If you want to assume that 100 Mil left on his contract over the next 6 years, feel free. And the Mets desperately need antoher bat in the line-up, just as much as bull pen help.

He played right for us towards the end of his Marlin career (essentially to be showcased for the Yankees who ended up opting for Raul Mondesi instead). He's not bad in right, and you figure that Cameron in center would make up for the slight dropoff. Either way, Beltran won't approve the deal, he's already built a house in Long Island and he's said that he wants to make it work with the Mets...
October 11, 200521 yr I thought a trade for Manny mostly involves Mets giving up Cameron & taking on most of Manny's contract?
October 11, 200521 yr I heard that Manny said he wanted to be a White Sox That could change next week :mischief Remember, "Manny being Manny"
