And USC is the defending national champion, they are #1 until someone beats them. Texas is the better team but I don't put them at #1 until USC loses and they are still left unharmed.

and USC remains #1 in the polls, mainly because they are the defending champs, but the blended rankings take in a lot more than who finished where last year

if they go undefeated and end out of the top 3 then i'll cry foul ... until that point nope

Who cares? It's a moronic system. Decide for yourself who is #1.

Until USC loses their #1.

Texas has beaten one good team, Ohio State, while beating 6 marginal teams. They are being helped out right now by the overrated-ness that is Texas Tech

USC has beaten the best 2 loss team in the country and above average Oregon and Arizona State teams... all on the road.

This will all even out when they play and beat Cal and UCLA.

USC is the best team in the country until they are beaten.

The BCS again displays the need for an 8 team playoff.

It doesn't really matter who is 1 and who is 2. Only who is in the 2 spots.

As long as USC stays at 2, I doubt they care, they'll just beat Texas in the Rose Bowl anyway.

Oregon may be above average, but they are up there with Texas Tech in terms of overrated-ness, they've beaten powerhouses like Houston, Montana (sure they're a good IAA team), Stanford (lost to UC-Davis), 1-win Washington, and 1-win Arizona. I'd say that Oregon and Arizona State are mediocre teams that just beat up on a pathetic Pac-10 (save USC). Sure, Texas Tech was overrated, but they certainly aren't as bad as you made them out to be, then again, I think you have alterior motives behind your hatred of Texas and TTech.

Yeah, cause the Big 12 isn't horrible this year too.

Texas has 1 impressive win, at Ohio State, 1 solid win, Tech, and then they've beaten up bad teams.

USC has 1 impressive win, at Notre Dame, 2 solid wins, at Oregon and at Arizona State, and then they've beaten up bad teams.

If Oregon and Arizona State had played the schedule Tech played, they'd have been unbeaten too.

I actually couldnt care less about Texas Tech, I dont ever give them a thought. I just think they have only gotten their due because of a laughable schedule and a statistician's orgasm in Cody Hodges.

Texas Tech had an OOC schedule that included FIU (1-5), Sam Houston State (2-4, with one win coming against Bacone College...the hell?), Indiana State (0-8), and then a home conference win against Kansas (3-4, with their 3 wins coming against FAU, Appalachian State, and Louisiana Tech), at Nebraska (a good win, I will give them that), a win over a pitiful KSU team at home, and then the loss to Texas.

They have one good win and an OOC schedule whose opponents combined record is 3-17 (wins being the aforementioned Bacone College, Florida A&M, and Stephen F. Austin).

So yes, I think Texas Tech is a fraud and a joke to be considered a good win, even at home.

And I havent taken anything away from Texas besides the fact that I do not think they should be the no. 1 team in the country per the BCS when the Human voters still have USC ahead in first place by a 108-18 vote margin.

EDIT: Also Id like to add Jeff Saragin's strength of schedule rankings:

USC's is 24th while Texas' is 30th.

Texas Tech's is 109th.

Oregon's is 20th.

Arizona State's is 5th.

VT is the best team in the country. They look like a heck of alot better team then Texas or USC.

We really need a damn 16 team playoffs.

Let's not forget UCLA...sure they have to play USC but I think they've got the horses on offense to match with them.

USC should be #1 until somebody beats them.

Love Tech, but I wouldn't go that far.

If VT walks through the ACC beating BC this weekend, Miami next weekend and then wins the conference against florida state their road would of been alot harder then USC or Texas' they would deserve a good shot at the title really.

Now I say If because I hope miami beats them, then beats FSU to prove that was a fluke and goes on to play the Undefeated SEC team in a bowl game.
