December 6, 200520 yr LaTroy Hawkins - R - Giants LaTroy Hawkins has been traded from the Giants to the Orioles for Steve Kline, USA Today's Bob Nightengale reports. This right after Nightengale said it was expected Hawkins would go to the Mets. Kline's career could turn around back in the NL, but we like this for the Orioles, assuming that Baltimore has no intention of allowing Hawkins to close. Between Hawkins and Chris Ray, the Orioles could do very well in the seventh and eighth innings. Someone like Todd Jones might be brought in to close. Between Kline and Jack Taschner, the Giants should be alright.

They are hoping a change of scenary would benefit both players. the Giants thought a change of scenery would help Hawkins when he was traded from the Cubs...he lasted two months here... I am happy about this trade for a few reasons: 1. I really wanted the Giants to sign Kline last off-season. 2. Kline will likely be more like he was in 2004, being out of Baltimore, in a pitcher's park, and re-united with Matheny 3. we get someone to pick up Hawkins contract 4. we fill the void left by Eyre 5. Latroy "Felix Rodriguez" Hawkins is gone!!!!
