Here's something that will take a little thinking: Who is going to pitch what bullpen role when Tim Spooneybarger comes back? Spooneybarger and Urbina can split time at the set-up role, but I don't know if that's such a good idea. For those Looper-haters we could have Urbina close and have Tim Spooneybarger set-up or vise-versa, but I think we shouls keep Uggy-Looper as 8th-9th. If our starter get booted early we can use Spooney, or maybe he can pitch the 7th for a Spooney-Uggy-Loop 1-2-3 punch, but that seems like it would tire out too many guys in one game. What are your thoughts on this?

why is everyone so high on Spooney? He really didnt impress me earlier this season, and now he will be recovering from being off for a few months with an injury.

 

I know if he goes out there and pitches a 1-2-3 inning, everyone will be like "Praise the Lord! Spooney is back! Put him at closer, bla bla bla". The fact is, he may be good (I think he will be good, and I do really like him), he is not impressed me with that 4.00 somethin ERA.

with the Rosters expanding pretty soon let's change this title to Sanders-Urbina-Looper? It has a good ring to it.

I said a couple of times a month ago that I would not be surprised if Spooney did not come back this season, and if he did wouldn't be ready to contribute. I still believe that. (Also said that Tejera and Bump could alternate pitching ahead of Urbina and Looper.)

check his WHIP furman. Also check his ERA without the 5 or so 2 inning outings. He was pretty good until McKeon started using him for 2 innings. his WHIP is pretty nice though either way.

The Marlins will call up very few in September. The Sun-Sentinel said Gerald Williams, Kevin Hooper and Blaine Neal are the three most likely to get called up. They would have to create space on the 40-man roster for Sanders. I just don't see it happening.
