The Marlins don't plan on making many September callups. Outfielder Gerald Williams, infielder Kevin Hooper and RHP Blaine Neal, all of whom are on the 40-man roster, are expected to come up.

Manager Jack McKeon says he has enough trouble finding playing time for his current reserves. Neal has saved 20 games for Triple-A Albuquerque and could see regular use out of the bullpen. Source: South Florida Sun-Sentinel

sorry if already posted

the more I think about it, the more I am looking forward to Williams getting a shot. Maybe he can help our offense in some way. We really need a boost. And if Blaine Neal can pitch well, I don't know how much it will help us this season, but it will definitely be helpful coming into spring training next year.

Agreed. If anything he could be a nice defensive replacement for Cabrera. I'm happy about Neal's progress, which is being made in a hitter friendly environs BTW. Its almost looking like Abe Nunez won't get his shot just yet...I hope they release/demote Harris in favor of Nunez. Won't need him with Hooper, who has a cannon arm and is very good defensively.

I would've figured Justin Wayne would get a callup.

I think the Herald mentioned something about Rob Stratton getting a shot.

Wayne is Loria's pet, but I'm not sure there's a spot for him on the M.L roster. I mean, we have enough starters. I guess he could be a long man in the 'pen, but that's what Helling's for.

Im not too excited to see Stratton in a Marlins uniform anytime soon. Guys like Abe Nunez, Chris Donnels, and Jason Wood WOULD make a stronger impact.

The Marlins have made a change to their Arizona Fall League contingent, replacing Double-A Carolina right-hander Randall Messenger with Class A right-hander Lincoln Holdzkom.

Messenger recently was suspended for violating team rules. The suspension originally was thought to be season ending, but Messenger could be activated in time for Monday's game in Orlando.

Holdskom is 0-2 with two saves and a 3.55 ERA in 11 appearances for the Hammerheads. A seventh-round pick in the 2001 free-agent draft, Holdzkom began the season at low Class A Greensboro, where he was 1-4 with a 2.84 ERA and four saves in 43 relief appearances.

*Im excited about this, because Holdzkom is a STUD.

Wayne is struggling to strike batters out right now and I doubt we see him this season...he will get a look in spring training.

i cant wait to see Hooper play. If castillo is gone in the off season he will be playing 2nd for us ( i suppose). He is doing bad this year but he is a great player anyway. Geral Williams is having an awesome year and i cant wait untill he comes up.

Dont forgot the RED HOT Matt Erickson who is sharing playing time with Hooper at Albuquerque. Erickson's offense is more advanced then Hoop's, but theres no question Hooper has the range, arm strengh, and the intangibles. I'd rather take the defender at 2B because its probably the 3rd/4th most important position on the field and from some numbers I'm starting to work with, defense + pitching is the best route to take.
