January 21, 200620 yr Hey everyone. I haven't been on the board too much in the past few months with trying to get things straight after Katrina and stuff. No flooding at my house, although my neighbors had a couple inches. Mostly wind damage... Anyway, that's not why I came on here. Unfortunately, the only Marlins news I've heard/read in the past few months is negative. Similar to y'all, I've been dealing with the same garbage too from SA and OKC. Although the Saints are in N.O. for good and Tags said so, there is still speculation about the Hornets and OKC. While I think it is a long shot the team would move after we sold 10,000 season tickets when we drafted Chris Paul, had the worst US natural disaster, and other things, it's still a longshot they move, and I am not too worried about it. All I know about the Marlins is that they are basically pulling guys off of the beach and asking them if they want to play some major league ball, and the owners are exploring relo. Please tell me there is better news. I have hard time believing MLB would give up on South Florida...such a big place. There really aren't many places that have the population to support baseball...Portland, no. Charlotte, no. LV, no. If it's just a small gap that separates a deal with getting a new stadium, I really find it hard to believe the league/owners can't find the loose change needed in between the cushions of a couch. -steven New Orleans, LA
January 21, 200620 yr Good to hear everything is well for you... Now about the Fish, they aren't just 'taking guys off the beach'. They have an incredibly talented pool of prospect players, and they will hopefully begin to mesh and develop further this year. It will be fun to watch. About the stadium, who knows at this point. There are so many possibilities, each day brings different news.

January 21, 200620 yr Hope you've been keeping your spirits up over there NO. :thumbup I'd still bet on a stadium getting done here eventually. And the good news is that spring training's just around the corner, & you'll have a whole new crop of guys to watch grow up, just like Lee/ Castillo/ Cabrera, now you'll have Jacobs/Ramirez/Hermida. And place your bets on which of our 500 top pitching prospects wind up being the best.

Get used to a lot of new faces. Expect 60-65 wins this year. People say it will be fun to watch. I guess they didn't have fun watching Gonzo-Castillo turn those double plays, and a proven pitching staff. We can have fun watching our next double play combo mature over te next 3-4 years, and enjoying being down 5 runs in the 4th inning with no bullpen. Our payroll is under 15 million.

Our offensive production will likely be at least as good as last year, so that means we will always have a chance to come back. It's better than '98, when we had no proven bats and little hope for runs outside of maybe Cliff Floyd and Preston Wilson. You're a moron. Of course we will miss Gonzo-Castillo (and everyone else), but why be pessimistic about the next great big thing? (Hermida, Willingham, Jacobs, HanRam, Olsen, Johnson, Bowyer, etc...)

Im kind of middle of the road on the outlook towards the upcoming season (please hurry by the way because Im tired of pretending to like the NFL and its never ending dancing/celebrations after routine tackles). Part of me is real psyched for the Marlins to again be the scrappy underdog/spoilers. There is something to be said about having very low expectations. Last year we had extremely high expectations. It will also be fun to be at the games with all the TRUE Marlins fans instead of the "Wild Card Crew". The other part of me..........feels like a sucker. Here I am looking forward to the new Marlins and their SUB 20 million payroll. I bought my little brother an authentic Mike Lowell jersey in May. :banghead
