February 5, 200620 yr Hell all of the radical Muslim world will join Iran as well. You mean, like they joined to fight us in the Afghani conflict and the Iraqi conflict? If other nations would be so willing to defend their muslim brothers, they would have done so after Afghanistan. There's absolutely nothing from anybody outside of those who think the sky is falling that tells us Iran will have allies. If they fight, they will do so alone. And this time, if it does come to a conflict, they'll not only have the most powerful force in the world but probably 7 or 8 other members of the Top Ten. Not a fight most would want to get involved in.

Its a long walk from economic and political sanctions to an actual invasion.
February 5, 200620 yr look i simply dont think its going to be this walk in the park that many of you want to assume. a full scale invastion of iran would be a bad thing without any doubt in the world. thinking anything else really is a failure to understand fully the gravity of the situation.
February 5, 200620 yr I honestly don't see any nations joining Iran if there is a conflict. Russia and China, who have ties to Iran economically, will almost certainly not support an invasion of the country. I believe they will cooperate with the UN if actions against Iran are non-military. If the US decides to propose military action against Iran through the UN Security Council, it won't get anywhere, because of China and Russia both having veto power. China especially has been making a lot of money by selling arms to Iran the last decade or so. My current theory is that if we want to launch military strikes against Iran, we'll be doing it alone, maybe with some UK support. I say that the only way we're going to get any major support militarily is if Iran starts to look like it's going to attack or preemptively attack Israel or another regional neighbor. To be perfectly honest, I'm shocked that no other nation in the region has used the preemption doctrine that Bush made up to justify a local war against a neighbor, like Pakistan against India. A few of the crazier leaders had threatened such an action within a year after Gulf War II.
February 6, 200620 yr If the US gets the backing of the world community, I doubt anyone would be foolish enough to go up against the U.S. and allies. This is very true. I doubt the US goes into a full scale invasion alone. If military action is needed, taking out the current Iranian regime and military would be a walk in the park. The US and allies would literally bomb them for 72 hours straight. The US and allies would not lose one plane. After that special forces and Marines would infiltrate key startegic points. Then the tanks and armor would roll in with a crippled country. Imagine the worst natural disaster times 100 with a huge army to follow. What would take time and lots of effort, would be reconstruction and keeping the peace. Eventually peace would be restored but it would take some time. A full scale military attack on Iran or any other country in the world other than a few would be a piece of cake. I think Iran is asking for war. It would be awesome if they did something really stupid to force the US and allies to invade their punk asses.

Iran is stronger than you think...they wouldn't be able to hold up against a US invasion of course, but I think your prediction that we wouldn't lose a single plane is a little off. Even in Iraq, we lost a few planes and helicopters. Iraq hasn't been able to hold a candle to Iran's military power since pre-1991.
