The team policy is spreading to many throughout the organization. While talking to fans Saturday, Dawson was sporting a mustache. The Hawk says he plans to shave by the time pitchers and catchers report on Feb. 18.

"I won't be different than anyone on the 25-man roster," Dawson said. "When Spring Training starts, the mustache goes."

I like that a lot.

Hah.

They probably blew any chance they had of getting the KK promotion back this year.

It's not like our offense is capable on 12 hits in a regular basis anyways *zing*.

Probably every good of a chance as the 2005 team. The O should be OK. It's the starting pitching, bullpen and defense that worries me.

well even if we got to 12 hits this year, with only 1,000-3,000 per game who would notice?

it's almost like they did it on purpose so that only 3k a game will show up and he'll " have a reason " for trying to move the team..

hope not, but it seems that way...

nice quote in the sig, btw fish :thumbup

Unlike that movie created by Hollywood screenwriters, that's not a clause in the lease. The Marlins can leave at any time. Whether they draw 3000 or 30000, they ain't making money without better shares of stadium revenues.

Ferry, honestly, do you really believe that MLB would allow them to up and leave if they were getting 30K a game, or even 20K a game? This is an important market to and for baseball.

Loria has to burn the ground and salt the earth in South Florida to be allowed to leave, and in many respects he's well on his way.

1) Open up old scab wounds from the one glaring stigma hanging around this franchise. Check

2) Piss poor customer support and "rope a dope" techniques among our season ticket holders. Check

3) Blaming the fans and the weather and the venue for all that is wrong, then acting surprised when they don't show up (I swear, this is the first ownership group I have ever seen that pretty much says that their current stadium is unfit for baseball, that the weather is atrocious and that the fans should be ashamed of themselves, and then stomp their feet and demand that people show up). Check

4) Destroy any semblance of a competitive product for the next two years and tell fans not to get attached to their favorite players because we likely can't afford to pay them. Check

They are trying their hardest to get fans to hate them. Not because of some perceived similarity to Major League, but because it allows them a clearer mandate to move. Selig is fighting the move (and presumably the erasure of debt that Loria still owes MLB if he is allowed to move), but there comes a point when the market is simply too far gone, and Loria and Samson are trying their darndest.
