Marlins & Phillies

Featured Replies

19 games left. From now both teams have pretty similar schedules.

Both play the Braves 7 times,

6 games against each other,

6 games against weaker opponents (Florida gets the Mets for 6, Phils have Cincy & the Pirates for 3 each)

Marlins need to make up one game to tie for the wild card, two or more to take the lead. Can they do it & where will they pick up the games if so?

Head to head? Will the Braves pound one or both teams into the ground? Will the Pirates or Mets play spoiler? Will the Marlins streak over Philly continue?

Atlanta could play a huge part in this. Starting today the Braves play 4 vs Philly and then 3 vs Florida.

After that we'll have a pretty good idea of what the Marlins will need to do vs the Phills in the head-to-head series.

Philly's 5-4 against the Braves so far, so they'll have some confidence going into today. Scheduled pitchers are Millwood-Ortiz, Wolf-Reynolds, Padilla-Ramirez, Myers-Maddux

Good posting. First the Mets. Glad we won't face nasty Leiter. Then, while our opponents are the Phillies, it will be "psychologically" important for us to beat the Braves! And I still think Lee should be batting clean-up on the road.

Unless the Phils or Marlins collapse the WC will most likely be determined by those head to head matchups. Nice info hc!

I think we'll have a tough time tonight against Trachsel, though. I'm confident Beckett can continue his impressive pitching performances. We need some help from the Braves the next three days, too.

I think This game will be a pitchers duel.

Beckett has been excellent since the ASB, while Traschael has had 2-3 1 hitters i think.

This series is extremley important. We must take care of business. A sweep would mean a 5-1 road trip (5 straight W's) and would put us in excellent position to win the WC.

I don't think Philly we'll go 4-2 against us, so we'll have to gain a little ground on them.

Beckett is on fire, and Trachsel has pitched well, so we have a Pitcher's Duel tonight.

Scheduled pitchers are Millwood-Ortiz, Wolf-Reynolds, Padilla-Ramirez, Myers-Maddux

Ortiz > Millwood

Reynolds < Wolf

Ramirez < Padillia

Maddux > Myers If Maddux pitches like his old self...

i say they split it..

if the fish can sweep the mets :plain that would gives us a 1 game WC lead...
