March 29, 200620 yr god this rotation looks meek outside of Dontrelle You mean the rotation that has the lowest ERA in baseball this spring? Please....don't tell me you buy into the spring stats....Where's OMGNunez?? There's a difference between putting up numbers against guys who will be bagging groceries in a week and a half and doing what Johnson, Olsen, Vargas, Nolasco and Mitre have done all spring against opponents who will actually be in the major leagues this year. Said it before and I'll say it again, you can only write off spring for so long before you really have to notice trends. Will all players shine? No, but the overwhelming success of this team in almost every aspect of the game really makes me believe the season won't be as catastrophic as some believe. If the claims of a good rotation were based simply on strong springs from Willis and Vargas I'd see you're poing, FFIPA, but by my count we've had great springs from 5 possible rotation arms, Dontrelle excluded (Vargas, Olsen, Johnson, Nolasco, Mitre). I mean, if you have 5 guys thriving, 2 could do something in the year right, so how does being a three pitcher team make us all that different from last year?
