March 29, 200620 yr http://www.nascar.com/2006/news/headlines/...fine/index.html Its unbelievable that they'll fine a guy that much money and put on probation for 5 months all for a simple shove. Jeff has never done anything remotely near to this before, but I guess it just shows how much the sport has changed over the last 25 years or so. :thumbdown
March 29, 200620 yr Matt Kenseth's face was priceless. Laughed for a good while when they showed the incident in slow motion. And $10,000 is nothing. I doubt he really cares very much about being fined. He'll get his true revenge sometime later this season. It's a fair penalty. You can't have drivers trying to start fights. He does that to a guy like Tony Stewart and there's a huge fight. As entertaining as it is Nascar still has to police these types of events. It's when they start taking points away is when I have a problem with it.
March 29, 200620 yr Author Well technically points were taken away already when he spun out and finished 21st instead of 3rd. It was probably one of the reasons why they didn't deduct points..

The lame sanctioning body is trying to police feuds, even small ones now. They're taking all the drama out of it and look, now we have 43 guys driving around afraid to race. And oh yeah, this 10k didn't even put a dent in his wallet... errr, purse.

March 29, 200620 yr Author Well listening to Dialed In on XM, alot of Jeff Gordon fans were saying that if it were Dale Jr or Tony Stewart that shoved Kenseth, they would have said how cool it is. However because it's Gordon and because he is so hated in the Nascar community, they all hoped that he'd get suspended for his actions that were nothing short of assult (which to me is BS because a) Assult is like when Jimmy Spencer punched Kurt Busch and this was no where near as bad and B) I'm actually a Dale Jr and Jeff Gordon fan and thoroughly enjoyed watching Jeff give Kenseth a nice shove after the race.)
March 29, 200620 yr I don't think that's true, Jeff is definitely one of NASCAR's "golden boys." Behind Earnhardt he easily is the second most popular so don't act like NASCAR was playing favorites. They're just being a p***y sanctioning body, that's all.
March 29, 200620 yr Nascar would have handed out the same penalty no matter who did it. It was just so out of character for Jeff. I think it just surprised a lot of people. I haven't seen/read about people 'hating' on Jeff so to speak. Everyone just says 'that's Bristol'. I personally though it was pretty cool, but do I think it should be punished? Absolutely.
March 29, 200620 yr Or Earnhardt. Seriously though, I wish there were more of this. If Senior did it, it'd just be another normal race. Every time they race at Bristol, things like this happen. Jimmy Spencer punching Kurt Busch in the face is a good example. He got fined, also. It's Bristol, it happens. It will happen later in the year and it will happen next year. Its nothing out of the ordinary.

I never said they were playing favorites. Its obvious that they don't, otherwise they wouldn't have taken 25 points from Dale Jr. after that slip of the tongue at Talladega a few years ago.

What about at Daytona this year when Tony Stewart hit the cone going into pit lane and somehow, magically the cone was out of place? I bet if a less popular driver (i.e. Mark Martin) were to hit the cone, he'd be penalized.

Forget about the fact that they did nothing when Earnhardt passed for the lead beneath the yellow line at Talladega in Spring of 2003.

I forgot what reason they gave for not black flagging him though..
March 30, 200620 yr He would have made the pass even if he didn't go below the yellow line I think was it. In that race I'm not really sure why exactly he did go down below the yellow line because he did have plenty of space. Probably should have been penalized. It's a dumb rule anyways
March 30, 200620 yr i'm just thrilled dale jr hasnt won a title and isnt showing real signs of winning one this year yet neither.

I think it was something having to do with his sponsers and not taking away a win from a fan favorite and, oh, yeah, Chevy owns the largest stock in NASCAR. :mischief That was a joke. I only half believe what I just wrote.
March 30, 200620 yr i'm just thrilled dale jr hasnt won a title and isnt showing real signs of winning one this year yet neither. Why? I hate the idiotic argument that he doesn't deserve it because his father gave him everything so please don't say that. Well I guess you can, but its still annoying And how has he not shown he isn't going to win the title. He has done well at tracks he is traditionally terrible at. Outside one stupid speeding penalty on pit road with 2 laps to go and he's in the top 5 in points right now. Besides it's only been five races...
March 30, 200620 yr Author i'm just thrilled dale jr hasnt won a title and isnt showing real signs of winning one this year yet neither. How do you figure that one Das? The guy is currently in sixth and is only 118 points behind Kenseth. He's definately showing more signs than he did at this point last season.
March 30, 200620 yr They said it was because it was incidental (forced under). Yet the black flagged Sterling (I believe it was in the same race) for an incidental pass below the line for maybe the 20th position.

I just dont like him. I just dont see him as being capable of winning the title, I'll know with more certainity after 10 races, and this is probably a fallacy on my part, but he is quietly in the top 10...probably too quiet, which means its going to blow up in my face and he is going to be alive at Homestead for the title. Oh and regarding Daddy...its just as idiotic to hate him and say he doesnt deserve anything due to his father than to say he deserves it becuase of his daddy and love him becuase of his daddy. I just dont like the guy, has zero to do with daddy. I liked his daddy anyway. i'm just thrilled dale jr hasnt won a title and isnt showing real signs of winning one this year yet neither. True, cause last year was one trainwreck after another.
