Exactly why it was a bad move!!!

Featured Replies

Last night during the game, proves why it was such a bad idea to release Lenny Harris. Im not here to bash Chris Aguila, but I would feel more comfortable with Lenny at the plate than Chris. How can a I guy go up to bat and swing at the first pitch. Oswalt was getting tired (close to 100 pitches at that point), you knew he was going to throw junk. Again, Im not here to bash Chris. That game was ours to win, and I think we need that extra clubhouse presence. Does anyone know if he is still available. Maybe if this was toward the laterpart of the year, and Chris was not so nervous and anxious it would be different, but you really want to start the season on a good note. Either that or maybe Girardi secretly does not have faith in this club, this year, and wants to give the "young" guys a shot.

Whats your take on this?

Aguila's never been a great pinch hitter or part time player, but he probably brings more to the table than Harris as far as Girardi is concerned. I dunno, water under the bridge...

Having Chris Aguila as our first PH off the bench is to me the most scary part about the 2006 Marlins. Im not saying All Time was the solution but he did hit over .300 last year.

Chris Aguila is and will always be a DEFENSIVE substitution.

I would have placed Wels Helms in to pinch hit, but thats just my opinion. Joe knows what hes doing, Im not going to question him on opening day.... Just didnt work out for the Marlins. Agulia should have never swung at the 1st pitch....

Chris Aguila will never be a DEFENSIVE SUB, he blows. I went to the ST the 26th I think the date was and he had at least 4 easy (and by easy i mean he maybe moved 1 step in any direction to get to the ball) and he dropped all 4 of those, that man is a disgrace, if he wants to be a baseball player he needs to learn patience and just be a PH.

:plain yes, he's a disgrace. :plain chill out

i watched that game on tv and it was obvious that the wind was going nuts. he's usually a surehanded defender.

I think he's at most going to be used as a pinch hitter against left handers

hopefully we can see a lot of Helms this year

I completely agree. Aguila has only given me doubts and fear when he pinch hits (and usually when he hits as a starter). I have never been comfortable with him at the plate for some reason...

However, if Reggie Abercrombie played last night, we would have won. :thumbup

If Willingham is your LF, Aguila is certainily a defensive sub.
