  1. Hey guys, this may be a stupid topic, so I apologize if anything, but I would like to get your feedback on this. IF the Marlins finish .500 or a little above or a little below (a game or two), do you think they would give Manager of the year to Joe Girardi, or would it go to someone else, Like Jim Leyland in Detroit, Willie Randolph in NY, Ozzie Guillen in Chicago? Whats your take on this?
  2. THANK GOD THAT MAN IS OUT OF OFFICE. NOT FOR THE MARLINS SAKE, BUT FOR THE SAKE OF MIAMI ITSELF. IF I EVER SAW THAT MAN IN PUBLIC, I WOULD STICK MY FOOT SOFAR UP HIS ASS,HED BE CHEWING THE GUM I JUST STEPPED ON..
  3. Last night during the game, proves why it was such a bad idea to release Lenny Harris. Im not here to bash Chris Aguila, but I would feel more comfortable with Lenny at the plate than Chris. How can a I guy go up to bat and swing at the first pitch. Oswalt was getting tired (close to 100 pitches at that point), you knew he was going to throw junk. Again, Im not here to bash Chris. That game was ours to win, and I think we need that extra clubhouse presence. Does anyone know if he is still available. Maybe if this was toward the laterpart of the year, and Chris was not so nervous and anxious it would be different, but you really want to start the season on a good note. Either that or maybe Girardi secretly does not have faith in this club, this year, and wants to give the "young" guys a shot. Whats your take on this?
  4. Ive been thinking about this for a LONG time, and now finally I get a chance to write and relax. Many people are questioning if the 2006 Florida Marlins are for REAL. As of right now it is very hard to say. IT IS TOOO EARLY, but I would have to think that Marlins may be the CLeveland Indians of last year. A underrated, overlooked team. Here are my reasons. These guys are all young, younger than me and most of us on here. Im 26. The average age on the teams is 22 ( I think). After the Marlins win a few games, and begin to gel, im pretty sure every sportswriter (excluding Dan LeBatard), would love to be with these young fresh guys. They are playing all heart. They are fresh. No egos (like the millionaire Yankees, Mets, and Red Sox) that like to go and "buy" a team. That clubhouse will be filled with music and laughter before and after games. They are kids growing to be men. They have that perfect clubhouse coach/leader in Joe Girardi, and the perfect player/humble leader in Lenny Harris (assuming he stays). NO EGOS. They may even have a "chip" on there shoulder, b/c everyone is writing them off, and as well all know, NOTHING is a given in sports (right YANKEE FANS). This team could be the teams of Oakland and Cleveland of the past few years, in letting go big $$$ for good prospects and good coaching. Notice how teams are not spending like a few years ago. I love this team, and I will go watch games this year. Plus for us guys, just imagine the females that will heading to see the games to check out OUR young studs... 2006, ALL HEART...ALL THE TIME 2006, WRITE OFF YOUR TAXES, NOT THE MARLINS 2006, LESS IS MORE.
  5. Thanks for your support everyone..... I know if I dont tryout for one team, I will be kicking myself too. I might even call the D-Rays
  6. Well the Marlins called me back...and its true. They are holding tryouts for anyone UPTO age 24.
  7. I feel you man..that was a shot in the gut when I heard that. Hopefully I get a call back, in hopes there will be one for older individuals.
  8. I called the Florida Marlins, and I recieved some info. Here is the info for those who are interested. They will BE holding a 1day "camp/tryout". It will be on March 3,2006, and it will be at there Jupiter Spring Training field. Theres a catch though. It will be up to age 24. So I guess they must be going for a YOUNG approach. I left a message with the Assistant Scounting Director, and hopefully he gets back to me. I am 26, so that counts me out if true. I hope this helps anyone.
  9. Thank You.
  10. no I throw righty....It would be nice to throw lefty, but I would have problems throwing out runners at third. Im a pull-ball hitter.
  11. IF I can tryout, I will be going for catcher. Im a lefty power hitting catcher. If I dont make it, what do I lose...nothing. I mean who has not had a dream of trying out for a pro team. I have not played in a few years, but recently I started throwing a ball around for fun, then I started playing softball, and guess what..now I feel like trying out.
  12. It obviously didnt work up North....Now all of you "north of DADE" people are crying b/c you may not be able to make it to your 6 games a year. Now you will know how it feels to lose a team that has been asking for support from NORTH and SOUTH fans. the North side is now crying b/c it may be moving south, or REALLY NORTH. You guys dropped the ball. Us SOUTH FANS did it for 12 years. Either you are fans or not. Dont cry b/c the stadium is going to move 50 miles south. You guys could afford the gas.
  13. I know what "Spring Training" is buddy.... Obviously you have no idea what Im talking about. So anyone other than Marlins R #1, I would like your assistance in helping answer my questions. Of course we all know that every baseball team holds "open-tryout" for regular people looking for one last shot....hence the word "TRYOUT". If anyone has any idea as to when this will happen, could you please let me know. Thank You.
  14. Does anyone know when will the 2006 tryouts be?
  15. well if Denver is willing to give up a 1st round pick...The dolphins may uses that extra first rounder to trade their second round pick to Houston for David Carr. The Dolphins could go ahead and used there two first round pick to trade up to a higher pick and get Brickshaw Ferguson or Marcus McNeil. Or they could stay and hope DeAngelo Williams falls there way (which would feature to young backs), and Micheal Huff (wich would solve there CB problem.
  16. I would rather trade him to a NFC team like Arizona (who needs a back) Other options would be SF (but they like Frank Gore)...Carolina may be interesting ( I dont think they trust Foster and Smith that much)...maybe Philly..that would be devastating in Philly..McNabb and Williams.
  17. In the new age of the NFL...I think it is wise to have TWO feature backs. One back cant take all the pounding like a few years ago. Players are bigger, and faster. Perfect examples..KC (Holmes and Johnson)..NY Giants (Barber and Jacobs)..Denver (Anderson and Bell)...Pittsburgh (Parker, Staley, Bettis)...Carolina (Smith and Foster)...Jacksonville (Taylor and Jones)...see a trend. All of then were in the playoff or in series contention. Now teams with one feature back...NO (McAllister, lost with injury. who picks up the slack)...St.Louis (Stephen Jackson)...Buffalo (McGahee)...NYJ (martin)..Raiders (Jordan)...Philadelphia (Westbrook)..Dallas (Jones)..Detroit (Jones)..see another trend... Then you have those exceptions like Seattle and Indianapolis who can afford the one MAJOR back such as Alexander, and James. There offense is spectacular, and even then they have capable backs ups in Ind..(dominic Rhodes), and I think it is Sam Goings in Seattle.... Unless we would be able to pick up another PREMIER BACK in the draft like Bill Callhoun (Wisconsin), or DeAngelo Williams..I would not do that trade at least untile Ronnie brown proves he is a FEATURE BACK, and we have a proven QB.
  18. lol....fish people..thats awesome...lol. sometimes I think that the City of Miami, does not want the Marlins. Its like the old saying.."you dont know what you have until you lose it"..
  19. I would have to agree with Fishfan79 (our names are similar..). I like where it is as of right now, but it looks like things wont work out in that area..unfortunately. I dont mind the drive up there. I made it last year a few times for the Dolphins and Marlins. Why did the Bicentenial park fail?
  20. I beleive no matter where the stadium is built (if anywhere), the Marlins will lose fans. We just have to look at how many fans will we lose compared to gaining. The same would go with the value of the organization to field a competitive team. If the construction on the 826 will be done around 2009-2010 season I guess that would more or less around the time a stadium might be done, and it woul dbe nice to go hand in hand. Does anyone think the new 826 can handle traffic for a stadium? I dont know if it could. Not saying that I dont think it can. I just dont know the exact specifics of the "826 project".
  21. Im sorry if I come off sounding stupid with this question. What is the "UDB"? Again sorry for the stupid question. :banghead On another note...The Cleveland Indians....I became a Indians fan after the movie Major League, but after they did what they did to us, IM happy they lost the world series in 1997/ Kind of like redemption. Also they want to leave Winter Haven, which has treated them very well. Im not here to bash the Hialeah idea. I beleive the Hialeah idea has positives as well, and we all have the ONE goal, which is to keep the FISH in town....IF there is one thing that I dont like about Hialeah..is the traffic. WIth all the construction, on a normal day at 2 am there is traffic.
  22. I dont think many people from Palm Beach go anyways. Most of them are rich people who are close to being retired, or are retired, and just want to relax at home. Plus most of them are soooo rich that they probaly have a house in the Keys, and could probaly catch a weekend series if they have a house there. I was very impressed went I to the Nascar event this last November (for the third year in a row), and how it event handling is getting better and better organized. I think Homestead is ready for this. Homestead is full of middle-class, hardworking people. Mostly YOUNG couples as well. Im not toooooo sure on how the Broward people would react to this, but if people from Dade have been doing it for years. I think its there turn. I mean, we would still have to drive for Dolphin games. So in reality we would be meeting half-way.
  23. Yes..the stadium as built in 1991 if I am correct. But when Andrew came through, the Cleveland Indians backed out for good. Even though they were assured the Stadium would be ready for next Spring Training. After that is when Homestead started to colapse. In the next few years there will be a Baptist Hospital, A theme park (sponsored by Universal if im correct), a possible drag strip, movie theaters up the ying-yang, BANKS (which means Money)..I have been living in Homestead since 7/2004, and I love it. Its really nice, and its beautiful. I wake up every saturday to the sound of F-16 flying over my house. There are shopping centers all over. You would be able to get to the stadium from the Turnpike, and from US1, and if your in the area, you could always walk or take back roads. here is a link to the stadium..not much info but some.. http://www.ci.homestead.fl.us/portal-recreation/parks.aspx
  24. Hey guys I was reading a article on Foxsports.com about the Marlins looking at Hialeah, and it also said they were looking at Homestead as well. I think Homestead would be perfect, and I have thought that for years. Other than the fact that I live in Homestead here are reasons why it would be great. 1. Plenty of Land and access roads. 2. Homestead is growing, and the value of the team would rise considerably. 3. With Homestead growing extesively, I dont think funding would be a problem. (they may want to consider the same way Ralph Sanchez got funding for the Homestead Speedway. 4. It would be the perfect sports-town with the Race Track, and there have been rumors for years of a Drag Strip going to be built. 5. It is just as far as Dolphin Stadium from Flagler, and it is close to the Keys as well. Which would mean MORE MONEY..God knows those people in the KEYS HAVE MONEY TO SPEND. 6. Homestead built a small stadium for the Cleveland Indians a long time ago, then at the last second they backed out. Leaving Homestead with a stadium that is not being used. The stadium could hold close to 10,000 fans. I think it would be a great idea to have the Marlins play a couple of Spring Training games there and see how the turnout is. Im pretty sure Homestead will sell the land and the stadium considerably cheap b/c they are LOSING money on it, and have for years. 7. I beleive one of the turn off of Dolphin Stadium, and has been for years, is that it is not in the best neighborhood. That is a deterent from middle class fans (as most of us are), who want to enjoy the game but are thinking if there car is being broken in. 8. Plans were set-up a couple of years ago by Leonard Hamilton to set-up a sports-town, but it was slopply organized. 9. I dont think they would have to rename themselves to the "Miami Marlins". 10. I would love to see the faces of Miami-Dade Officials if it gets done, and the Marlins succeed in attendance, revenue, and ANOTHER WORLD SERIES RING.... PS: I think they should bring Ralph Sanchez on board as a consultant. here is the link.... http://msn.foxsports.com/mlb/story/5292628
  25. Does anyone know where I can get Miguel Cabrera pictures of him off the field. My gf has a thing for him and Jayson Taylor, so I want to send her a email with her two favorite players. You see what I have to put up with........."I get no respect" :banghead
