Does anyone know when will the 2006 tryouts be?

Its called Spring Training

I know what "Spring Training" is buddy.... Obviously you have no idea what Im talking about. So anyone other than Marlins R #1, I would like your assistance in helping answer my questions.

Of course we all know that every baseball team holds "open-tryout" for regular people looking for one last shot....hence the word "TRYOUT". If anyone has any idea as to when this will happen, could you please let me know.

Thank You.

In the past I think I've seen them post it on the Community section of the website.

what do you plan on becoming the next Jim Morris, The Rookie

How about the next Willie Mays Hayes?

...You're talking to the starting left fielder for YOUR 2006 Florida Marlins.

i love how some people on this site could be so rude, especially considering they've been on the site for less than 100 days what a joke

I did a search on Google and came across dozens of sites with lists of tryouts for Major League teams, except all these websites are subscription based where you've got to pay to get access to the lists and whatnot.

I did find this site though, on the front page is Dan Henderson, a regular guy actually signed by the Marlins at one of these informal tryouts: www.probaseballtryouts.com

If you call 1-877-MARLINS i'm sure someone will be able to give you the info or at the very least direct you to the appropriate person/department.

I'm gonna try out to be the second baseman. The only problem is that I am injury prone and, technically, not a very good baseball player.

I believe Matt Whisenant (remember him?) got signed at one of these.

EDIT: It appears I was wrong about Whisenant. I know there was SOMEONE who did, though, who ended up pitching at some point for us. Anyone remember who?

You're hired. :thumbup

I am interested in when this is as well. Probably my best shot I'll ever get.

For those who are trying out. Good Luck!

Wasn't it at a tryout that Phil Mickelson tried to make it as a pro a couple of years ago, except he couldn't get his fastball above 80mph......

Sorry, I simple misunderstood. There's no need to bitch about someone being wrong. You could have elaborated a little more.

I think John Rodriguez of the Cardinals caught on like this.

Looking back through my media guides, I found 4 American players signed as Non-drafted free agents by the Marlins that eventually played in The Show with the Marlins- Chris Calapinski, Vic Darensbourg, Mike Redmond and Tony Saunders. A few players that also played for fish that weren't drafted include Bryan HArvey and Bobby Bonilla. I don't know if any of these were signed at tryouts, but its a start.

Wow...in that case I must be crazy. I was almost positive there was a no-name pitcher for us who caught on at a tryout.

I believe you are right. As I recall, he was signed by the Yankees originally after going to a tryout.

How was Joe Strong signed?

I understood what he meant as soon as I read the topic title. But you're response was a little rude

BOTHFISHFAN, what position are you going out for... you feel like you got the tools?

IF I can tryout, I will be going for catcher. Im a lefty power hitting catcher. If I dont make it, what do I lose...nothing. I mean who has not had a dream of trying out for a pro team. I have not played in a few years, but recently I started throwing a ball around for fun, then I started playing softball, and guess what..now I feel like trying out.

Do you throw lefty as well? Not many lefty-throwing catchers around, kinda cool.
