He ran a 4.37 40 and catapulted himself into the 1st round.

He's a very good safety and a strong open field tackler. Many a Donte Whitner hit has gotten the multiple replay treatment. However, in terms of stepping up into the box to stop the run, he's a little undersized. Basically, he can make the tackles, but if he gets blocked, he's screwed. Not unlike most safeties though.

From all accounts, he's a quality guy too. We've churned out some pretty good safeties in the last few years, he fits right in.

I dont want LenDale, and I think we will pass on him anyway.

We have more pressing needs than RB, namely G if Reyes leaves, TE where Mangum is old and Gaines and Seidman suck, and free safety. LB could be a problem also, but there are 5 guys(Davis, Branch, Adams, Tufts, and Seward) fighting for 2 spots. I'm halfway expecting Carpenter from Ohio State to be taken with the first round pick, espicially since a 3rd rounder from Chicago might be on the way.

Bucs are in a terrible spot for there needs. No need to take a CB, I am praying Holmes falls to us.

Dolphins certainly need help in the secondary. Probably their biggest weakness. I'd rather grab another CB, though. If Nick were in that spot, I wonder if he'd try to trade down to the mid-20's where there is a run on CBs in this mock draft...he could pick up a 3rd/4th rounder in the process, depending if there's someone who really wants to deal up.

I'd be willing to bet that would all be contingent on if Chad Jackson was selected before us. If Chad is there at 16, I bet we trade down.

Well, I'm down with a WR selection, too. Probably our second biggest need. I'm not really yet sold on Chambers' rise to elite status. And our depth at the spot kind of sucks.

The thing that bothers me of whitner is how much was him and how much was the defense around him? Half of his defensive team was 1-3rd round picks from CBs to DT. I wont deny he is a good talent and good young player himself. But how much is truly them?

personally I want an OLB still, I would love for Manny lawson there from NCS. I would love for a trade back and snag up bobby carpenter from OSU, or a move back with cromartie on the ticket at CB.

OLB is our biggest need though I think, but shall see what happens. ESPN is getting better in their mocks it seems.
