May 1, 200620 yr No. Mitre is still complete garbage and has no business in a MLB starting rotation, or if he is as no more than a 5. He is just right now pitching way over his head. And you're hot for Hermida? not sure what that has to do with this thread This guy's trashing Mitre, yet his username is Hermida_Rules27. :mischief2 yea, Im still dumbfounded... drop some knowledge on me
May 1, 200620 yr Given the difference in position it is hard, granted. Mitre in my opinion is a far more imporant piece of this team than Jeremy Hermida.

May 1, 200620 yr Given the difference in position it is hard, granted. Mitre in my opinion is a far more imporant piece of this team than Jeremy Hermida. Just curious.....how?
May 1, 200620 yr Hopefully that will reverse, I'd like to see it happen. Im interested in hearing your explanation for why Mitre is more important to this team
May 1, 200620 yr A pitcher than can consistently give you a chance at winning is more important than a guy who hits .250 and strikes out more than he hits, that's my opinion and keep in mind I'm talking present tense.

Unless you mean it's silly for me to think that's important.

May 1, 200620 yr OK that's fair. I did say I was speaking in the present tense and I did say that I believe Hermida will be a bigger contributor down the road.

Unless you mean it's silly for me to think that's important.Well, in 20 at bats this year he's hitting .250/.423/.300 with 0 HR, 0 RBI, and a 7/6 K/BB ratio. In 41 at bats last year, he hit .293/.383/.634 with 4 HR, 11 RBI, and a 12/6 K/BB ratio. I'd say the larger sample size would be more telling, no?
May 1, 200620 yr Well considering Hermida is part of the long term plans of this franchise and Mitre probably wont be here after this season, calling Mitre more imortant is kind of...unrational. Espicially when Hermida has talent and Mitre has to catch lightning in a bottle to be more than mediocre, as we are the only team he'd be in the rotation for(and also, he historicially has never gone deep into games, he's a 5 inning starter average...those types of starters dont really give you many chances to win most of the time)
May 1, 200620 yr Author Mitre is really not getting the credit he deserves for pitching reasonably well. Half the threads on here discuss replacing him ASAP and I don't really understand it, he's our third best pitcher right now after Olsen and D-Train. yea no kidding hes just fine to many critics tellin us how to make it better oops did I say that :mischief2
May 1, 200620 yr The major problem with the mitre criticisms is that his time in the majors is way too short to have such a concrete opinion about him. In chicago he was being sent up and down constantly, switching from the pen to the rotation. This year hes been very solid so far, and who the hell are you to judge pure talent. You say he's a very untalented pitcher, yet beinfest seems to disagree, and I think I rather take his word for it
May 1, 200620 yr Well before today he hadn't pitched well at Dolphin Stadium(6.17 era @ DS before todays games, still in the 4's). And he is pitching over his head. 3.82era, as much as we could ask for and then some I was just posting his home era. I have very little faith he'll keep it up, settling into a high 4/low 5 era seems about the best of his ability. maybe a high 4/low 5 ERA this year , but in the future it will be much lower. we didn't acquire him to become another Moehler
May 1, 200620 yr No. Mitre is still complete garbage and has no business in a MLB starting rotation, or if he is as no more than a 5. He is just right now pitching way over his head. And he is still the worst pitcher talent and ability wise I have ever seen. He is more talented than you give him credit for. The guy has been making ML appearances since he was like 21, so obviously he has done something right. Anyway, Burnett was on of the best pitchers talent wise I have ever seen and that still doesn't mean crap, except he signed a massive contract this off-season which doesn't match his mediocre numbers.
May 1, 200620 yr HE will never be a CY Young award winner :thumbup , but he can be a number 3-4-5 starter in the future, just don't look at him to be in our staff with the potent corpse we have coming up through the minor league system. There is no E in corps...unless you are referring to our prospects being zombies. HAHA
