Minor League Round-up 5/1

Featured Replies

Albuquerque AAA

*Crushed by an Omaha lineup full of major league ready hitters 8-3

*1B Jason Stokes 0-2, 2K (81AB, 30K)

*SS Robert Andino 0-4, 0K (286BA)

-back at SS yesterday

Carolina AA

either off or postponed...

Jupiter High-A

*crushed 10-4...4 team errors

*OF Bret Carroll 1-4, K (340BA)

*3B Grant Psomas 2-5, E(9) (315BA)

-wow...9 errors in 23 games? He's not adjusting very well to 3B.

*1B Brad McCann 1-2, BB (204BA)

-Might be turning it around...slow starter.

*CF Jai Miller 0-3, 2K (233BA)

-dammit, c'mon Jai!

*OF Dante Brinkley 2-3, HR(2), K, E(1) (775OPS)

-Glad he wasn't injured yesterday.

*C Brad Davis 0-3, BB, E(2), PB(5) (657OPS)

-Looking like the best defensive catcher in our system can't hit for much and his fielding is struggling

*MR Trevor Hutchinson 1.2IP, 6H, 7R, 2ER, 0BB, 1K (12.71ERA)

-His ERA got saved by a few errors or it'd be in the 20s.

Greensboro Low-A

off or post-poned

which position did Psomas play before 3B?

He was drafted as a SS and might have been moved to 2B by the Mets before we tried him at 3B. I'm not really sure why he's having such defensive problems.

You'd think 2B would be a more needed position by the Marlins, considering what we have currently.

Wonder if it's a lack of range that moved him to 3B? Or if it's throwing errors that he's making as opposed to fielding, then maybe 2B would work better regardless. Seems like he's got a decent bat though, hopefully he'll find a position that sticks.

also some Jason Stokes notes from Rotoworld:

Jason Stokes left Monday's game at Triple-A Albuquerque with a left groin injury.

Stokes, who could become a candidate to take over at first base for the Marlins if Mike Jacobs continues to struggle, is batting .309/.387/.556 in 81 at-bats. May. 2 - 2:54 pm et

Hope that groin injury to Stokes isn't too bad...

The entire Jupiter team is a defensive mess. I'm going up there today, see if I catch a glimpse of improvement. I'll be sure to let y'all know how it went.
