Garcia Throws Complete Game Gem

May 9, 2006 - Jose Garcia (3-1), lowered his ERA to 2.05 after allowing just two runs in a complete game effort. Garcia threw 86 pitches in a game that took 1:42 minutes to complete. Recent Pitcher of the Week, Jose Garcia had a no hitter going through 6.0 innings. He ended his night with 7 strikeouts and a walk.

The Hammerheads jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the second, when Dante Brinkley singled to left field, scoring Brad McCann from third base. Jupiter would add a run in the third inning when Brett Carroll would hit his fourth homerun on the season to left field.

The Hammerheads took three out of four from the Sarasota Reds after sweeping the Manatees in Brevard in their last series. Jupiter has now turned things around, winning six out of their last seven, and nine of their last 12. The Hammerheads hope to continue their winning ways against the Tampa Yankees, who will be coming to The Dean for a four game series beginning tomorrow at 7:05.
