May 12, 200620 yr laws are on the books in this country for a reason, enforce them. If someone wishes to apply for citizenship they should be able to. But they shouldnt be given better treatment for being here for a few years illegally and breaking the law.

I can guarantee right now that if you give amnesty to all of these people who have broken the law, then it will just encourage more and more people to come here hoping for the same treatment. It could never end if it comes to that. I think you need to deport some, and impose penalties on the others. Obviously we can't ship 20 million illegals (estimated) back to where they came from.
