One of my favorite race days with Indy and the 600.

 

Anyways Scott Riggs got the pole. Jr starting way back which is a little worrisome because his car sucked last weekend.

 

Big news is that Michael Waltrip failed to qualify. Sucks for him, but I guess this is kind of a lameduck year for him since he is going to Toyota next year so there really isn't much reason to put a ton of money into this team this year.

 

This race is going to be a clusterf*** if last week is any indication. I hope just not 20 cautions like last year. They are going to be forced to do something about Charlotte. Super fast, pretty brutal on the front right tire and a ton of wrecks. When I was at the track last weekend there was a lot of talk about restrictor plates, but that would probably kill the racing imo.

 

I wish I could make it to the race, but I figure I will be going to all the tracks starting in July so its cool.

Surprised they aren't calling it the Jimmie Johnson 600 yet.

 

 

Jeremy is starting second, hopefully he can pull off a top 5.

The drive for four for #48.

Tough break for Waltrip, he had a streak of over 200 races.

Waltrip bought Derek Cope's spot in the race and how he will be in it. Is this legal and if so why?

 

He gets the driver points and Cope will get the owner points. This is a terrible rule and definitely should not be allowed.

No its not illegal. As stated, Darrel Waltrip did it 6 years ago in his last cup season. And I don't think its a bad rule because it allows Mikey, who's a cup regular, to race while someone like Derek Cope who rarely qualifies, gets a chance to just sit back and collect owner points.

 

 

And Dale Jr. qualifying 34th :thumbdown

I understand it for the purpose of sponsorship stuff and whatnot, but I dunno I just don't agree with it. If you get in the race on speed you should race it and if you don't get in build a better car/engine.

 

Oh well not like it really matters he'll prob crash in the first 20 laps.

 

In the Busch race Tony just hit the wall pretty damn hard. Seemed to favoring his right side. They say he's alright though. Going to be sore for 600 miles tomorrow though

Robby needs to start to put it together again. I still think he can get a top 20 finish in points this year if he gets his head out of his ass and hopefully the luck stops being bad.

 

 

And Michael Waltrip isnt that good a racer, so its not overly shocking that he has struggled this year. He only did what he did thanks to amazing equipment from DEI and even then he still never cracked teh top 10 in points.

 

 

He is nothing more than a fun personality that NAPA loves so they keep him around.
