Hanley's hurt hands.

Featured Replies

Hanley's hands: Ramirez isn't one to make excuses for being in a mini-slump. But it may be more than a coincidence that he is 4-for-27 (.148) over his last seven games.

Prior to that, the talented shortstop was 3-for-3 with two RBIs, two stolen bases and three runs scored in a May 22 win over the Cubs. In that game, Ramirez had the blade of his right hand accidentally stepped on by Chicago's Todd Walker while he was stealing second.

After shaking off that incident, Ramirez's left hand was struck by a pitch from Sean Marshall immediately after pitcher Ricky Nolasco homered.

Ramirez admits his hands have hurt, but he is just about better now.

"The last couple of days have been a struggle," Ramirez said. "I'm going to get hot again."

Ramirez ranks among the NL leaders in several categories, including batting average (.315), stolen bases (16) and hits (58).

Girardi has said Ramirez is capable of stealing 50 bases.

"I'm going to try," Ramirez said. The offensive number that means the most to him is on-base percentage, which is .385.

Yep, Hanley has been struggling lately but its nice to know that there was an excuse :confused .

His attitude is freaking awesome.

I love the confidence in saying "I'm going to get hot again"

and I love the fact that obp is the stat which means the most to him

what an awesome player we got in him

Any injury to the hands area (wrist, etc) is cause for concern because that's where all of their timing and such is. It's the focal point of the swing. I'm concerned as the guy needs some time to fully heal it.

You've got to hope Girardi didn't know because if he did and didn't give Hanley at least a day off with Amezaga there, it really makes you wonder...

Jeter's hand gets hurt, Hanley's hand gets hurt maybe its a sign that Hanley will be Jeter like?

Except Hanley will one day be a much better defender than the Golden Boy. :whistle

Hanley has still gotten a few hits the last few games, although he did have that very cold streak. But he's still batting around .315 and for a rookie, that's still pretty darn good.

And Hanley won't dive unneccesarily into the stands to make a catch.
