Hypothetical question

Let's say next year Barry Bonds decides to take off the 1st 2 months of the season, then signs for $12 mil. to be a DH with an AL team. What do you think the reaction would be? People would call him selfish, talk about how he held the Giants out to dry, etc. etc.

That is basically what Clemens did. Now he didn't sign with an AL team, but the guy doesn't go on road trips unless he is pitching (that is where the DH comparison comes in.) He is making $12 mil., that he doesn't need), he took the 1st 2 months off, and yet you don't hear very much bashing of him at all.

And before you bring steriods in, people have accused Clemens of the same thing, just not nearly as much. Clemens is being treated like a hero, but Bonds would be catching fire left and right.

/end rant

There's a double standard because Bonds is a douchebag to the media and Clemens is a douchebag to everyone but the media, that's he avoids all the negativity Bonds gets. I wonder why Clemens never gets accused of roids. It's not like he's still pitching like a superstar into his 40s...

if clemens was suspected of using steriods, he'd be called selfish etc. the thing is people like roger clemens, a majority of people don't like Bonds..fans/media won't critize a player they like. clemens is a family man and is basically coming back because the astros want him so much...and of course i'd think he was an idiot if he turned down the money he's being offered and i think a lot of other people agree with me.

I cant believe Im saying this but you are absolutely right.

And how about this can of worms..............its because Barry is black. Ive always looked at the race card as a big pile of steaming poop but in this case it IS racial. And Barry didnt do himself any favors by acting like a :jackass with the media.

I havent heard one negative comment anywhere that gives Roger any steam for sitting out the entire first half after he already retired THREE years ago.

Barry Bonds has gotten bigger (people gain weight when they get in their late 30's, early 40's!!!!!) and maybe he did do steroids. But if anyone thinks that Clemens didnt hit the juice/cream than they are really kidding themselves.

1. Clemens is worth the money, Bonds isn't/won't be.

2. Clemens isn't a douchebag. He is downright beloved by his former teammates in New York and his current ones in Houston.

3. Bonds fought his own teammate in the dugout.

4. Clemens is coming back to a team that with him on it, is one of the top 4 teams in the NL and he helps them go after a ring.

3. Bonds is coming back to self serve himself as he goes for 755.

5. Why do all the Bonds supporters who claim he doesn't do steroids in turn, accuse others and throw them under the bus, with those players not even having a percentage of the evidence stacked up against Bonds?

I never said Bonds didn't do steriods.

Lets not act like Roger Clemens is the second coming of Joe DiMaggio in terms of likeability by players and fans.

He did after all look like a complete MANIAC when he threw Mike Piazza'a splintered bat right back at him and then made it worse by claiming "I thought it was the ball".

:lol :plain

Neither did I.

How is it racial? Because he's a jackass but also black, he gets a free pass?

Any links or articles with substantial evidence that Clemens did steroids? Any grand jury testimony? Any of Clemens trainers linked and eventually jailed for steroid distribution?

Clemens was listed at 205 pounds his rookie season. He is now listed at 225, 22 years later. Compared to Bonds who was listed at 185, and is now 230. Clemens head hasn't also expanded with his age.

Took the most meaningless statement out of my post, but anyways that was directed mostly to Fritz and others in general. Granted the word 'all' by me in that statement is pretty much too harsh.

Not sayin Barry gets a free pass.

But if he did what Roger did this year he would get pounded by the media.

In reference to Barry's weight gain...... The fact that Barry went from approx 185 Ibs in his 20's to approx 230 in his early 40's is in no way shape or form evidence that he did steroids. Maybe he got fatter like the majority of Americans do as they age.

Again....he may have done steroids. Clemens may have as well. One thing for sure is......Barry will take the brunt of the steroids shark frenzy.

Have you seen Barry's arms? He is not fat.

We are not talking about the majority of Americans either, we are talking about world class atheletes.
