July 2, 200620 yr Well, what do you suggest they do if he is implicated? Because that would be an act of war committed by the Palestinian PM.
July 2, 200620 yr Author No, they don't. Might want to look up the laws on political leaders. He is a terrorist. If Osama Bin Ladin ran for political office in Afghanistan and won, would that change our approach? Absolutely not.
July 2, 200620 yr Well, what do you suggest they do if he is implicated? Because that would be an act of war committed by the Palestinian PM. Hmm, I don't know.....maybe be a civilized people and let him be tried for his alleged 'war crimes'? No, they don't. Might want to look up the laws on political leaders. He is a terrorist. If Osama Bin Ladin ran for political office in Afghanistan and won, would that change our approach? Absolutely not.Sigh..... Being a terrorist does not strip you of your status as a human being. You still have a right to stand trial and face your accusors, as much as some would like to be able to pick and choose.
July 2, 200620 yr I agree that being a terrorist shouldn't take away your trial, unless there's no way to take that person alive. In that case, it's better to take him out. Unfortunately the Bush administration also seems to believe that terrorists, or suspected terrorists, lose all rights when captured. That shouldn't be the case. They should be tried and imprisoned, or let go if the evidence against them isn't strong enough. They should have more faith in our justice system.
July 2, 200620 yr You're absolutely right FutureGM, but I guess what I was also trying to say is that I don't think there is a way to take Haniyeh alive.
July 3, 200620 yr No, they don't. Might want to look up the laws on political leaders. He is a terrorist. If Osama Bin Ladin ran for political office in Afghanistan and won, would that change our approach? Absolutely not. So is George W Bush. Yet he would still get his worthy trial if ever captured.

It's easy to see that you're a very rational person :plain.
